The Pink Cardigan

Posted in knitting

Yesterday we went over to Don's Mom's for a visit - we hadn't been over to see her for a very long while so I figured we should go (besides, I had some books that I needed to return to her).  The visit is going very well, she cooked us a wonderful dinner, we got our belated birthday presents from her and then she looks at me and says "So, am I going to be getting my sweater for Christmas this year?????".  Now, I'm not sure how many of you know that I have been working on a pink cardigan for my dear MIL - the thing has been taking me forever to make.  For starters I messed up on the back and had to rip it all out and start it over (I had the back all done when I figured out what I had done) and then to top it off .... the whole cardigan is all done in Moss Stitch, don't get me wrong - it's going to be absolutely beautiful when it is done .... I just wouldn't recommend doing a whole sweater in (no matter how much you love the person, lol).

So, today I decided that I was going to be a very loving daughter in law and work on the Pink Monstrosity Cardigan.  I set the time for 20 minutes (can you tell that I am not looking forward to working on it, lol) and I sit down in my comfy chair and proceed to knit one row on it.  Ahhhhhh, what a wonderful feeling .... got one row done and I still have over 15 minutes to go, wait a minute ..... NOOOOOOOOOOOOO, I messed up about 1/4 into the row and had to tink back 3/4 of the row!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Okay, I can handle this.  I tink back to where I messed up and then reknit the row - I actually ended up knitting 2 rows and went over my assigned 20 minutes.  Please, no applause is necessary .... I am only doing what any good daughter in law would do, roflmbo.

Awwwwww, thanks, Lori. Lololololololol - hopefully it will get done soon and then I won't have it staring at me from my knitting basket, lol. I actually worked on it again last night before I went to bed (about an hour of knitting on it, that's on top of the more than 20 minutes I did during the day, lol) - I only have an inch to go before I start the armhole decreases. So, not much more to go on the back.

Iced Coffee Syrup

≈ coffee
≈ water
≈ sugar

***IMPORTANT***: you need a percolator style coffee pot to make this.
DO NOT use a drip style coffee maker to make this syrup!!!!!

* Make one pot of coffee, then discard the grounds.
* Add fresh grounds, percolate again, with the coffee as liquid, not fresh water.
* Do this three times.
* To the finished coffee mixture, add one half the amount of sugar (if you end up with 3 cups coffee mixture, add 1 1/2 cups sugar).
* Mix until sugar is completely dissolved.

* To use: add 2 - 3 tablespoons of syrup to a 10 oz glass of milk, stir to mix and enjoy.
