What a busy past few days
Posted in Family Life
Our busyness started on Saturday: I was at work and Don took the kids down to my Mom's so that they could do some more yard work and such for her. After work, my Mom took us to a nearby town (about 1/2 way between where we both live) for an Anniversary supper. We got home at around 8:30 and immediately started making our lunches for the next day ... this meant that I needed to make a loaf of Gluten Free bread for Josh so that he could have sandwiches with the rest of us. Don and I get to bed around 11:30.
6:00 A.M. we are all up and eating breakfast so that we can get our backpacks stocked with sunscreen, bug spray, umbrella's, lunches, water, etc. By 7:40 A.M. we are out the door and on the road so that we can be at the Community Center to board the bus by 8:00 A.M. We get to the zoo by 10:00 A.M and we toured around there for a little over 6 hours. Here are a few pictures of what we saw there (I won't post them all - I took over 100 pictures, lol):
Here is just one of many pictures that I took of the kids posing for me. Charlotte is so funny, she kept saying "Mom, take a picture of me", lol.
Next to these two Geese was a sign that basically said that they would bite you if you got to close to them, yet people were still trying to get their little ones to stand by the Geese so that the parents could take a picture of them!!!!
Don likes to call this picture "A Canadian in Florida", lol. This was the only Canadian Goose that I saw in this enclosure - it's watching two of the Flamingos fighting (you can see the feathers are all ruffled up on the Flamingos).
We got home from the zoo close to 9:00 P.M., I was planning on driving down to my friends house so that we could spend the night there but I was too tired to drive (I'm glad she convinced me to stay home on Sunday night, lol).
5:30 A.M. on Monday morning the kids and I were up, had our breakfast, packed some spare clothes for Charlotte (she was picking rocks with some of her friends) and we were on the road by 6:30 A.M., dropped Charlotte off at my friends house and she was pretty much off to the field shortly after we got there, Josh and I were at the Hospital by 8:00 A.M so that he could have his ingrown toenail taken care of. After that outpatient procedure we went back to my friends house and visited with her for the better part of the day, then we were off to another friends house to pick up our Scholastic book order and visit with them for a bit. We finally got home around 6:30 P.M. and Charlotte and I went in to town to order take out then bring it home (it was close to 8:00 P.M. by the time we got back from town). Supper was eaten and then the kids and I were pretty much in bed and sleeping by 9:30 P.M. Alarms were shut off and we slept in on Tuesday morning, lol.

Iced Coffee Syrup
≈ coffee
≈ water
≈ sugar
***IMPORTANT***: you need a percolator style coffee pot to make this.
DO NOT use a drip style coffee maker to make this syrup!!!!!
* Make one pot of coffee, then discard the grounds.
* Add fresh grounds, percolate again, with the coffee as liquid, not fresh water.
* Do this three times.
* To the finished coffee mixture, add one half the amount of sugar (if you end up with 3 cups coffee mixture, add 1 1/2 cups sugar).
* Mix until sugar is completely dissolved.
* To use: add 2 - 3 tablespoons of syrup to a 10 oz glass of milk, stir to mix and enjoy.
