Lots and lots of fabric
Posted in Daily Musings
Yesterday I was blessed by being the recipient of 2 large cardboard boxes full (more like overflowing) with material - mostly polar fleece type material (thank you, Tara, for the material and thank you, Lori for picking it up for me)
I was wondering what I should make with all this material and I have come to the conclusion that I will use some of it to make myself some tunic type tops (they should be really nice for the winter wear) and one of the ladies on a yahoo group that I am part of suggested that I make some wrap around skirts (I could even do some faux-wrap around skirts so that the winter wind doesn't blow them open on me).
Both the kids have decided that they want to make some blankets out of some of the material - we will cut them to the appropriate size, they will be 2 layers of the fleece and then we can cut fringes around the edges of both layers, the last step would be taking one fringe from the top layer and one from the bottom layer and tying those two fringes together ... working our way around the entire blanket. The nice thing about this kind of blanket is that there is absolutely no sewing involved and because it is polar fleece, it won't fray where it has been cut.

Iced Coffee Syrup
≈ coffee
≈ water
≈ sugar
***IMPORTANT***: you need a percolator style coffee pot to make this.
DO NOT use a drip style coffee maker to make this syrup!!!!!
* Make one pot of coffee, then discard the grounds.
* Add fresh grounds, percolate again, with the coffee as liquid, not fresh water.
* Do this three times.
* To the finished coffee mixture, add one half the amount of sugar (if you end up with 3 cups coffee mixture, add 1 1/2 cups sugar).
* Mix until sugar is completely dissolved.
* To use: add 2 - 3 tablespoons of syrup to a 10 oz glass of milk, stir to mix and enjoy.
