Another Busy Day
Posted in Daily Musings
Today is another busy day for us, the kids are continuing to work on their Unit Study (very excited about working on it, too), I am working on laundry for Don and myself, then tonight we have a Group Committee meeting for the Cubs & Scouts in our town (I also had to make sure that the Minutes were typed up and ready to go, as I am the Secretary for the Group Committee), and then before the Committee meeting there will be a CJ meeting for all of those involved in going to Canadian Jamboree this year - sooooooooo, we will be doing supper down at the Community Center ... which means that I will need to make a pizza for Josh since no one in town sells Gluten Free pizza.
The last few days have been pretty hard for me, I found out that my Mom went and got my Dad's ashes and she now has them at home with her. This sparked a whole new gammut of emotions in me and needless to say, I have been a relative emotional puddle since finding this out. I talked to my Minister about it and she gently let me know that I am entering the 'grieving' stage ... before that, she said I was just running on the adrenaline of the moment. I think I would much rather go back to that instead of crying all the time for what appears to be no reason at all (to the innocent bystander). But I also know that I need this time of grief so that I can move on from it - thankfully, the kids and especially Don have been so understanding and supportive during my bouts of sadness, bringing me a cup of tea or just sitting and cuddling with me if I need it.
I have also been praying a lot these past few days, I don't mean that I have just started praying ... I pray all the time, what I mean is if it is this hard on me ... I can't even begin to imagine what my Mom is going through. So I have taken to praying for each member of my family, by name (even the ones that don't get along with me at the moment). I pray for peace among my family and that we will all, in our own way, feel God's loving hand on our shoulder as He whispers to each of us "It'll be okay, I am with you as you walk down this road". I think that if it wasn't for my faith and the love that Don gives me each day ... this would be a much harder road to walk everyday, and I'm not sure that I would have the courage to face the challenges that each day brings.

Becky, you will be covered in prayer. Take all the time you need to get through this stage. What a wonderful husband and family you have to support you. Gabrielle

Thank you so much, Gabrielle. I do have a wonderful support network ... and not just with my husband and family, my friends are in there as well. Thank you for all of your prayers for us this past month, they have been so appreciated.

Iced Coffee Syrup
≈ coffee
≈ water
≈ sugar
***IMPORTANT***: you need a percolator style coffee pot to make this.
DO NOT use a drip style coffee maker to make this syrup!!!!!
* Make one pot of coffee, then discard the grounds.
* Add fresh grounds, percolate again, with the coffee as liquid, not fresh water.
* Do this three times.
* To the finished coffee mixture, add one half the amount of sugar (if you end up with 3 cups coffee mixture, add 1 1/2 cups sugar).
* Mix until sugar is completely dissolved.
* To use: add 2 - 3 tablespoons of syrup to a 10 oz glass of milk, stir to mix and enjoy.
