Knitting Exchange

Posted in Pictures

On my knitting group we recently had a yarn and tea exchange.  It was so neat to see what everyone got from their partners.  Amy (who was my partner) spoiled me so much, she sent me some Bamboo yarn, 2 balls of pale green and 2 balls of soft yellow color (it is so soft, I have never used it before).  A ball of Sockotta yarn (looking forward to using it to make myself a pair of socks).  A box of handmade chocolates which did not last long because they were sooooooo good.  Three boxes of herbal tea:  Raspberry Zinger, Wildberry Zinger and Lemon Zinger.  Here is a picture of all of it together:

What fun! How did you get involved with a knitting exchange?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A friend of mine, who is part of my knitting group, thought that it would be a really fun thing to do. So she organized it for us, the response was so positive that we are all hoping that she will organize another one for us.
How does this yarn/tea exchange work? Sounds like fun!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was a lot of fun ... although the anticipation of the parcel coming in the mail was almost to much to bear, lol.

A yarn/tea exchange is really easy to do and you could have it with different themes (like Valentine's or St. Patrick's, for example). First you need some people who are interested in participating (we had 6 ladies from Canada and the USA participating in ours), next you need to pair them up (you could put their names in a hat and draw out 2 names at a time and those two people would be partners).

Something that we did with ours, we stated the rules right up front so that everyone was aware of the expectations (price limit, when it gets mailed by, if there are any allergies, etc).

Iced Coffee Syrup

≈ coffee
≈ water
≈ sugar

***IMPORTANT***: you need a percolator style coffee pot to make this.
DO NOT use a drip style coffee maker to make this syrup!!!!!

* Make one pot of coffee, then discard the grounds.
* Add fresh grounds, percolate again, with the coffee as liquid, not fresh water.
* Do this three times.
* To the finished coffee mixture, add one half the amount of sugar (if you end up with 3 cups coffee mixture, add 1 1/2 cups sugar).
* Mix until sugar is completely dissolved.

* To use: add 2 - 3 tablespoons of syrup to a 10 oz glass of milk, stir to mix and enjoy.
