Mom's Birthday Present

The kids and I went to Mug Up today and while we were in town, we stopped in at where my Mom works to give her her birthday present ... so I can now post pictures of it. This is an Illusion knit Scarf, I had never done this technique before and I am really pleased with how it turned out - my Mom really liked it as well.

Now you see the hearts ....

Now you don't!!! Pretty cool, huh?

The background color is cream and the hearts are done in a very pale pink that has a bit of a shimmer to it. Mom liked how subtle the pattern was ... so did I, although I have seen some other ones of this pattern done up in bolder/darker colors that look absolutely wonderful.

Iced Coffee Syrup
≈ coffee
≈ water
≈ sugar

***IMPORTANT***: you need a percolator style coffee pot to make this.
DO NOT use a drip style coffee maker to make this syrup!!!!!

* Make one pot of coffee, then discard the grounds.
* Add fresh grounds, percolate again, with the coffee as liquid, not fresh water.
* Do this three times.
* To the finished coffee mixture, add one half the amount of sugar (if you end up with 3 cups coffee mixture, add 1 1/2 cups sugar).
* Mix until sugar is completely dissolved.

* To use: add 2 - 3 tablespoons of syrup to a 10 oz glass of milk, stir to mix and enjoy.
