Kids are coming home!!!!!
Posted in Pictures
Tonight we go and pick up the kids - I'm so excited, it is unbelievably quiet in the house with out them. Yesterday my sister took pity on my and had me come down to her place to help her pack and my Mom decided that since I was down anyways I could help her wash all the windows at her house. Doing the windows at the front of the house was brutal - the hot sun pounding down on us, once we got to the back yard it was much better.
Something else I was doing while the kids were away was making them some of their Christmas presents. Every year when we get home from the Christmas Eve Service we let the kids open one present - it's always new PJ's but this year we thought that we would do something just a little bit different. Both Josh and Charlotte have housecoats, which they wear quite regularly, however they are getting to the length where they will be getting to be to short. So, here is what I have been working on:
Mom helped me finish up sewing Josh's housecoat and then she sewed all of Charlotte's while I did all the cutting and pinning that needed to be done.
When Charlotte saw this material in the store she looked at me and said "Mom!!!!!!! You have got to make me something with this material". She was at Camp when I picked it up, so shhhhhhhhhhh don't tell her, okay.
Here's Josh's housecoat - I made it longer than what the pattern called for because he has been growing quite a bit lately and we are hoping that it will last him a bit longer doing it this way. Charlotte's was made the way the pattern said to make it (no alterations). I'm really hoping that they like them.

Great job!!! I bet your daughter will be so excited with the Hannah Montana fabric. They are going to love them.
God's Blessings,
Amy Jo

Thanks, Amy Jo - I had to get Don to hide them so that I wouldn't give them to the kids early. I'm sooooooo looking forward to seeing their reactions. =)

Those are great! The kids will love them! Sounds like you had a busy week without the kids. I can't wait to hear the kids camp stories. Chat with you soon, Lori D.

Thanks, Lori - it was a very busy week, I'm so sore today after doing all those windows yesterday. The kids have been telling us so much about Camp, they got to go canoing and swimming every day (I don't think it was at the same time, though, lol). =)

Iced Coffee Syrup
≈ coffee
≈ water
≈ sugar
***IMPORTANT***: you need a percolator style coffee pot to make this.
DO NOT use a drip style coffee maker to make this syrup!!!!!
* Make one pot of coffee, then discard the grounds.
* Add fresh grounds, percolate again, with the coffee as liquid, not fresh water.
* Do this three times.
* To the finished coffee mixture, add one half the amount of sugar (if you end up with 3 cups coffee mixture, add 1 1/2 cups sugar).
* Mix until sugar is completely dissolved.
* To use: add 2 - 3 tablespoons of syrup to a 10 oz glass of milk, stir to mix and enjoy.
