6 Years and Counting

This Sunday was DW and my 6 year anniversary.  My how time flies when you're having babies.  Sometimes 6 years doesn't sound like that much, but when you think about all that has happened in those 6 years, it seems longer.  We (she) have had 4 babies, moved three times, bought 2 houses, sold 1 house, and started farming.  Crazy.  We actually dated for 5 years before we got married (we are high school sweethearts) so we've really been together for 11 years.

Since it's been 6 years, I thought I'd list 6 things I think are interesting (maybe you won't) about my wife:

1. She LOVES to cook from scratch, especially dessert, which isn't good for my figure.  She makes a cheesecake that will knock your socks off.

2. When she was in high school drill team, she used to be able to lift her leg up and touch her knee to her nose.  We're talking standing with her leg out straight.  She probably can't do it anymore, but I always thought that was cool.  Not a very marketable skill I suppose, unless you join the circus.

3. She LOVES animals.  That's no surprise to anyone who's known her for more than 5 seconds.  We're talking any animal from cows to frogs.  Our oldest son takes after her in this respect.  She's the only woman I know that has no problem with palpating cows or picking up lizards with her bare hands.  What's weird is that she's not a "tom boy".  She's very girly.  She just doesn't get grossed out easily, except for spiders.

4. She has extremely boney knuckles, which normally wouldn't be a big deal.  That is unless she hits you with them.  Try to tickle her or mess with her too much and she'll start wailing away on your arm.  Of course I pretend it doesn't hurt, but I stop messing with her pretty quickly.

5. She makes the funniest little giggling sound when you tickle her belly.  I love hearing it, which is why my arm gets bruised alot.

6. As a kid she owned a pet chicken named Nan (her family lived in a subdivision).  It followed her everywhere and she would even take it for walks.  Nan turned out to be a rooster and had to be taken to a farm where he wouldn't wake the neighbors at 6 a.m.

Probably the most interesting thing about her (I know, that's more than six) is that she was the most influential person in leading me to Christ.  I don't know if I would have become a true believer without her (I was slowly going down that road) but she was the heaven-sent kick in the pants I needed to finally make the commitment.

She is also the most selfless mother and wife I know.  I could not find a better one if I tried.  She daily amazes me with her work ethic, her cheerfulness, her love for her family and God, and her dedication to be better.

For six wonderful years honey...Thank You.

We haven't gone anywhere yet. Our usual babysitters were all occupied last weekend, so we're going out to Red Lobster tomorrow night.
