4 Rules of Concealed Carry

All gun users (should) know the 4 Rules of Gun Safety:

1. Always treat a gun like it's loaded.

2. Never point the gun at anything you're not willing to destroy.

3. Never put your finger on the trigger unless you're ready to fire.

4. Always be sure of your target and what's behind it.

I teach these rules to my kids religiously.  Anytime they ask to hold or handle a firearm (unloaded of course), they must recite the 4 Rules.

I decided to create my own "4 Rules for Concealed Carry".

1. Know EXACTLY where you can and can not carry your weapon.

2. Never draw or reveal your weapon unless you are going to use it.  (Revealing it may stop the attack, but you should never draw it in the hopes that only seeing it will stop the assailant.  If you're pulling it out, it's because you're going to use it.)

3. ALWAYS carry your weapon with you, if you are legally able.  (There are no safe places)

4. Stay alert and pay attention to your surroundings.  (You can not see an attack coming if you're not paying attention to your surroundings)
