My Prodigal Son

{ 12:35, Monday, September 22, 2008 } { Link }

Just over a week ago we got to go and visit my oldest son and it was such a nice visit.  We got to spend 3.5 hours with him and see his smiling face.  I hugged him so much and just couldn't keep my eyes off of him.  He called this past Saturday night, he had been having a bad day and wanted to talk with me.  I felt so honored that he thought of me and that I was his choice to call.  That made me feel so good.  I can always get him to laugh when we are on the phone mostly by telling him a crazy story about his two little brothers who are 4 & 6.

I can understand the father in the bible when his prodigal son returned to him in Luke 15:11-32. It's not that you love that child above the others, but that during the time they are gone from you and out doing their own thing that goes against you and your beliefs it is so wonderful to welcome them back.  Just as when people walk away from the Lord and return because your heart aches while they are away and you fret about them and their safety and when they return it is the sweetest thing.  I love that boy/man more that breath that I have in me and I would gladly give it to him if it would mean his salvation in Christ Jesus.  I'm sure it will take time but I am chipping away at his heart with lots of reasons why he should choose a life with Christ.  Until then many more prayers will go up for his salvation!
