Works For Me Wednesday

Our Little Woman is going into her Senior year this coming school year.  We are not pushing her into going to college immediately after graduation, nor is it something she desires to do.  Rather, she feels led that if she goes on to further education after high school, it will be to acquire a trade skill that she can use during which time she is single, and/or married, before she has children.  Her life's purpose is to be a stay at home wife, and mother for her family.

Now with all that said, we know that to get in to a 4 year college today one has to take an SAT exam.  While they are not fun, and down right scary, it is a necessary evil of 4 year institutions.  Rather than have my daughter wait to take this exam when she's ready to attend college, we figure it's best to get it out of the way now.  So, how does one prepare for this exam?

We found a great website to help with learning -  SAT Question of the day.  We both signed up to receive an email each day with a different test question.

That's what Works for Me this week!  Check out more great tips at Rocks in my Dryer.

TV at our house....

01:50, Thursday, May 15, 2008 .. Posted by specialmom42000
We limit the TV time at our house. Sometimes....and that is a BIG sometimes....they can watch TV during the day....but that is ONLY if it is really hot, or rainy.

We usually save the TV for after supper..

Being that our boys are older...they can find things to do to keep them busy. We also watch our granddaughter and my niece for the summer. SO, they help out with that.

We also continue a few school studies in the summer...usually religion and language. Also 1x a week library visits.

Hopefully this helps..

I hope all goes well with the SAT! Do you have an option of doing the ACT? I have a friend who did both, and I think that she said that the ACT is easier... you just have to fill in the dots, while on the SAT you have to write out the problems. I have taken the ACT several times, and while it isn't a piece of cake, it wasn't too hard, just LONG!! Good luck to Little Woman ;)

Greetings From My Home

We are a Christian, military family of 8. We are blessed with 6 beautiful maidens so far. We homeschool our children under the belief of Deuteronomy 6: 5-9. Nothing gives us greater JOY, than to see our girls grow in their faith and knowledge of the Lord.

3 John 1:4 - I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth."
