Show and Tell Friday

Kelli, over at There's No Place Like Home hosts "Show and Tell Friday." We received a BIG box yesterday from my in-laws. Poppa had saved all the newsclippings from the assassination of John F. Kennedy.
On our move from Colorado to Georgia we stopped in Dallas for a couple of days and one of our stops was to the Book Depository.

For those of you that haven't been to this museum it is called "The Texas School Book Depository (now the Dallas County Administration Building)." It is the former name of a seven-floor building located on Dealey Plaza in downtown Dallas, Texas. It is dedicated to JFK's life and death. They have incredible photos of his life all over the museum. Little Woman and the Juggler were fascinated with the mystery surrounding his assassination. When they found out their grandparents had saved the newspaper clippings from that time period the girls were elated and asked if Grandma & Poppa would send the clippings for them to look over. Well, first they had to FIND them as they had been stored for the last 30 years in their garage somewhere! B & P were living in New Bedford, MA at the time, which is where the papers are from.

I wonder what some of these clippings might be worth?
Blessings,
Michelle

We were just there on Monday! While my children and I have gone through the Sixth Floor Museum several times when visiting Dallas, my husband has never had the chance to do so. So this trip--we scheduled it into our brief itinerary. He was mesmerized. It is surreal to stand on the same floor as the shooter did, look out of the windows and remember that day so long ago. I was 9 years old when JFK was killed and it still is fresh in my memory. It was a horrific day, week, and months that followed.
My 16 year old son was most interested in the conspiracy theories. It is still a shock that something that horrible could happen without a solid conclusion as to why.
It's a worthwhile visit when you are in Dallas.

Oh, we visited Dalla a year ago, and so this brought back some memories! I was a small child when JFK was killed, and remember watching the funeral on TV ( 'cause Mom made us)

Living in Teaxs it's kind of surreal to know what happened there! When we first moved here 15 years ago from Trinidad, Colorado, every person that ever visited us, wanted to go down there! I have been down there A LOT of times. It's weird to watch the cars drive over the spot where it happened, and they just go right on by! Like it's no big deal! It's been fixed up very nicely, very impressive! I was onoy 3 years old so have no recollection. My husband who is 5 years older than me remember every detail! It's one of those definitive moments in a person's life. Where they were when JFK was assasinatied, when the Challenger blew up, where you were on Sept 11th and so on... I imagine they would be worth a lot today!Connie

The Book Depository Museum is very interesting to visit. We have been there. I also have saved the newpaper clippings I had from that event. I doubt they are worth much yet. But maybe someday they will be. Nice he sent them to you.

I remember this happening, mostly on TV.
Since I couldn't read yet. Does that make me old or what?
