My dh is coming to the close of his military career and we are looking forward to retiring near our family.  We are anxiously anticipating buying our dream home and/or land to buy and build on.  We've been moving for so long, I can only speculate what it will be like to remain in one place for the remainder of my life.  Never did I imagine that I would have had such an opportunity to experience this wonderful country that God made.  This beautiful piece of property (110 acres) close to our family has just been listed for $399K. 

I am imagining a beautiful home, a large garden, several chickens and other farm animals.

I can see my children running and chasing the animals, learning and experiencing life on a homestead.

I can see my grandchildren growing up around me and my children building their homes on one of the many acres we'd have to subdivide.

I can see myself growing old with my husband, enjoying all the days of our lives.   Won't you come and enjoy the view and daydream with me. . . . . .

I just found your site and am enjoying it - I know the dream stage (of scouting for that perfect place) that you speak of, and your ideas match ours, too! We 'settled' for a 10 acre spot with an awesome home on it, but now we are anxious to move on because the property it heavily tree'd we can't use it for much...among other things.
You didn't mention some other things that might be important to consider along with the initial price of land -like how deep the well water might be (from surrounding properties that are already built on), or what kind of home you would build... but I'm looking forward to hearing and seeing more about your wonderful homestead dreams, and raising 6 girls! You are an awesome inspiration for making dreams a reality!
