My Sweet Girls

Posted in Homeschool Thoughts

It's amazing when we actually see our hard word and perseverance come to fruition.  Today while we were at toddler story time at the local library, I witnessed my dd's kindly thank the lady handing out the craft projects.  So sweet, as none of the others in the group even mentioned a "thank you."   Where has all the polite manners disappeared in this world?

Tuesday, January 29, 2008 - Politeness is sorely lacking...

Posted by connielj

I agree with you about the lack of politeness in our young people. (Egads! I sound like my mother!!! :-) )

It takes constant work in the early years to cultivate politeness. But it does pay off! My older two kiddos (21 and 18) are always polite in public. I just beam when I hear my sometimes moody/grumpy/hormonal 18 y.o. daughter treat strangers at the store with such a polite tone and polite words.

Our 8 y.o. is in the midst of 'training' time and still needs occasional reminders. But he knows how great it feels to be polite. Especially when people compliment him (and me) for his manners. Isn't that goofy...complimenting something that should be a no-brainer!!
Blessings to you!
Connie

Hi, a hearty welcome. When I am out and about childen, I always notice the ones who are polite. I have also noticed that their parents are also polite to their little ones as well as other adults. It takes time to teach our children proper prinipals of behavior. Too many parents over the last 60 years have been "too busy" to bother training their children. I had better not get started.lol!!!!!!!!!!!! Blessing to you and your little ones. I too have a lot of girls. jodalton

You sound like a proud momma, and you should be!!! I am not sure when politeness went out the window!
