From the Windy Country.........

Hello everyone. We have had a beautiful, mild autumn in our area, but today has been very windy. At times I thought my car would be sandblasted when I was driving down a street and a big gust plastered us with blowing dirt.

David has taken the week off. He and our pastor went to the mountains for three days for some elk hunting. They had a good time, but unfortunately had no luck finding elk. They had intended to stay in a tent while they hunted, but they saw a childhood friend of David's at a restaurant on their way, who offered them the use of his cabin. They were able to sleep in beds and cook on a propane stove. It seemed pretty luxurious to them.

He was home today and one of his projects was to sandblast a cast iron antique waffle iron. It turned out beautiful. He is seasoning it so we can make waffles with it on Sunday morning.

My preschool job is going well. There are three adults and 21 students. We have had a community helpers unit and have invited some local people to come to school and tell the preschoolers about their jobs. The local chief of police came and talked about bicycle safety. He showed the children his car, which they all found to be very exciting.

One boy's father is a doctor and he came and talked to the children about his work. They told him about every ailment they have ever experienced as well as those of their parents, siblings, grandparents and even those of casual acquaintances!

On Wednesday, the local Catholic priest came and they proceeded to repeat every story of the previously mentioned ailments to him, till we intervened...... One little boy wanted to see his car. I think he figured the Father must drive a cool set of wheels like the police chief has.

One of our students, a little girl is moving and will be attending a different school. The Father led the students in a prayer for her and it was lovely. They all reached out and placed their hands on her and she bowed her head and closed her eyes. It is the most wonderful thing I have experienced in a long time!

Kim, thanks for your sweet comment. It is always a pleasure to hear from. you.

I would love to stay in a cabin for the week, that sounds wonderful.
I'm glad your job is going well. Kids say the cutest things dont they?
You mentioned that you'll said a prayer for a child-- before I took my son out of the public system I did a lot of volunteering in the schools. At the time I was still uncertain as to if I would take him out or not, then for Thanksgiving his teacher asked me to help her with a little feast for the class before they went on vacation. As I was serving the food another mom came in to help. Being a Christian she wanted to say grace with the kids, which I had totally forgotten about being so busy with the food. Well honey, the teacher stopped her dead in her tracks, she practically screamed NO You can't do that. I said, do what. You can't talk about God or anything remotely close to God. It was against the rules!
Needless to say that was the day that I made up my mind about taking my son out of the system, one month later he was done there. It is really sad what the world is coming to now days. I'm glad that some places are not as crazy as here in La. Here they probably would have never even invited any type of religous leader into the classrooms. Sad, really sad.

You raised a good point. I am thankful to say that I am working at Conrad Christian School, where we pray all the time!

We went to Pittsburgh, PA a few years ago on vacation. The area is very hilly with lots of trees. I didn't know it was so rugged, but then the 3 rivers come together there. Very interesting area! Jill
