Five Favorites
Just for fun, I thought I would think of and list 5 luxury items that make life a little easier. I could live without them, but I would sure miss them.
1. Gardening Clogs. I have had some for a couple of years and they're wonderful. I just slip them on for yard work or to work in the garden and hose them off when they get muddy.
2. A Good Potato Peeler. I have two of Pampered Chef's potato peelers. They must be the Cadillac of peelers!
3. Cross Training Gloves. Fingerless gloves that are good for weights and biking for those of us with sweaty hands!
4. Tortilla Press. Found one at a garage sale. I don't make homemade tortillas nearly often enough, but when I do, the press is wonderful.
5. Oven Timer. Now that I have a portable oven timer my family doesn't refer to me as "The Torch" nearly as often as they used to.....
How about you? Do you have some handy items you would like to mention?

Why, we're almost neighbors; well, at least closer than the gal in Georgia. Where is Conrad? I added you to my friends list. It is growing and I'm having fun meeting you all. My husband worked in Thompson Falls, MT, one summer as a forestry student intern--mostly fighting fires, while I stayed at WSU. He loved MT, but knew we couldn't make it on a forestry tech's pay, and there were no jobs for a Forestry graduate. So...he went another year to school and got a certificate to teach forestry. Like your husband--less risky but not as much fun. Frankly, my husband once considered homesteading in the Last Frontier--Alaska. Sorry, I don't do "no sun" winters. Now we have a nice compromise--one acre here in Western WA, which had a menagerie (sp) of farm animals of all kinds over the years, not at the same time. And our 14 acres in the Okanogan Highlands to look forward to.
So...what do you raise now? I love photo albums and went to yours. Sweet pics!
Sorry this is choppy but I've got work to do and I can't spend all my days blogging--sigh.
Oh...I'll think of my "list" of handy things in my next comment.

I'm back with my list...

The 5 things that make life easier for me are...
1) My Bosch. Without it I wouldn't make bread for my family, and they deserve something healthy.
2) My Broadband internet. Without it I wouldn't be blogging. I have no patience for pages to load.
3) I agree with the potato peeler. A good one is worth its weight in gold! A dud is a continual frustration. The Tupperware one is a good one.
4) Electricity. I wouldn't mention this except for the fact that a substation suddenly blew two days ago and most of our town was without power for over 2 hours. Sure makes me long for our place in the mts, where we have no public electricity (generator) and have adapated and are therefore much more self-sufficient.
5) My Mediflow water pillow. No more chronic neck pain. I could live without it, but I sure don't want to!
