Easy Crescent Rolls
Really, they are easy to make, even for the "bread challenged".
These are the rolls we served at the graduation party. They are good with a little butter or can be sliced horizontally to make small sandwiches.
Easy Crescent Rolls
This recipe makes 20 rolls
1 egg plus enough water to equal 1-1/3 cups
3/4 tsp Kosher salt
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup oil
2 cups whole wheat flour
2 cups unbleached flour
2 tsp rapid rise yeast
Mix ingredients with mixer and knead till dough sticks together. Place dough in greased bowl and turn greased side up. Cover and let rise in warm place until double in size.
Grease two cookie sheets. Punch down dough. Roll half of dough into about a 12 inch circle and cut into 12 wedges. Roll up each wedge, beginning at rounded edge. Place rolls, point sides down on cookie sheets and curve slightly. Repeat with remaining dough. Cover and let rise in warm place 20 - 30 minutes or until almost double.
Whoops, I left out an important detail......Bake rolls for 8 - 10 min. at 350 degrees. Sorry, these items were a bit lower on the page and I missed them!
When I make these just for our use at home, I often add a Tbsp or two of flax seed, just for the fiber. I usually use slightly less than 1 cup oil rather than a butter, oil combination.
This is my favorite time of year. The countryside is green and the trees are bursting with leaves. The temperatures are still cool, usually in the 70s during the day and the 40s at night. I am a true Montanan, because when the temps get over 85 during the day, I think I am sweltering. If you're from the South, you probably find that quite humorous!

Thank you for the nice comment you left on my new blog. I plan on reading yours, as well. What a great place to meet new people, huh? So far I have only read your profile but I noticed that you are interested in the Amish and Mennonite. I have always been fascinated by them and love researching their lifestyle and just looking at pictures of their beautiful homesteads. Stop back by my blog sometime, and thank you for the encouraging welcome to blogland!

and, like cabinfever, I am also interested in the Amish and Menonite lifestyles. What blessed people they are!

So dumb question here. How long do you bake them and at what temp.

Thank you for posting this recipe! :o) I'm like you...when it hits 85 it's hot...then I moved to Sacramento and learned a bit about what hot is. I can't wait to get back up into the northwest again and have normal heat!
