May in Northern Montana
Last night the temps were supposed to drop to 33 degrees, so I covered most of one garden with David's huge truck tarp. I could cover our smaller garden with a couple of canvas tarps. That's May in Montana for you. It can be beautiful and quite chilly all in one day!
I wanted to type a short post to tell you about a "near miss" we've had. On Wednesday I was substituting for Jonathan's teacher at his preschool. The children had several papers of various sizes to take home and I realized that unless I put each child's papers in a plastic bag, we would end up with a big mess. I left the children on the playground with the two ladies who were helping that day.
Before I had much paper shuffling accomplished, one of the ladies brought Jonathan in. He was crying loudly and his nose was bleeding. He had taken about a 10 foot fall from the top of the slide.
He is normally quite cautious, so I had no reservations about his using the slide. That day, however, he was leaning to the side to see what another boy was doing, and lost his balance.
We thank the Lord that he had no fractures or broken teeth or even a need for stitches. His face is a little scratched and is healing nicely with the help of vitamin E. His glasses frames are fine and I have ordered new lenses, because of scratches. Fortunately the lenses are guaranteed for scratches.
Our preparations for Maria's graduation party, to be held on Sunday, are coming along nicely. I have frosted cupcakes and crescent rolls in the freezer. Tomorrow I will bake turkey breasts and a ham. David and a friend will do some Dutch oven cooking, probably beans, corn pudding and maybe potatoes. We'll add a big green salad to the mix and should have a nice variety.
It is a tradition in our town for the families of graduates to hold open houses after the ceremony. It is lots of fun to go from party to party and visit with a variety of people. I think that one of the most special things about living in a small town is seeing familiar faces and meeting new ones at social gatherings. Hopefully the next time I post I will be able to include some party pictures.

Thank God he wasn't hurt with that kind of fall. Some serious damage could have occured. I feel down three little steps and broke my ankle having to have surgery and all. Lucky little guy.
Have fun at the party.

Thanks for your comment on my new blog. :) I came to yours and read your profile and realized that we have a lot in common! :) I also am working hard to get my family (my dad and husband) to eat more healthy. I am trying to simplify life, which can be so challenging at times.
Enjoy the graduation party! My niece graduates next Friday from high school and the party is Saturday next week! Have a great weekend!
