The Adventures of Mountain Woman
Have you ever received a phone call that left you feeling very shaken?
This morning David called after talking to our daughter, Maria, whom we call Mountain Woman because she works for a Bible College in the Rocky Mountains near the Continental Divide.
Recently she replaced her Olds Alero with a Sport Track, a much more practical vehicle for someone in her location.
Today she learned that a mountain lion, who has left tracks on the MWSB campus much too often, killed her bosses' old dog and drug her off. The dog, whose named was Sadie, slept on her masters' deck at night.
Maria told her dad that she and her assistants had seen a blood trail when they had walked the 1/8 mile to the kitchen early this morning.
The bosses suggested that the cooks carry guns when they walk to the kitchen and that they never walk alone.
David had to go to Great Falls on business this afternoon and will spend some time looking for a good .357 revolver for Maria when his work is done. If he isn't successful, we will loan her our .44 pistol with some lighter ammunition until we can get her a smaller gun.
Two staff members and a couple of local ranchers with hunting dogs tracked and killed the mountain lion this afternoon, praise God, but there could be more.
Please keep the school and its staff and students in your prayers.
In my last post I had mentioned the passing of my mother-in-law. Her death was unexpected. She had been having a variety of health problems and for some unknown reason suffered a ruptured spleen and hemorrhaged to death because she was taking blood thinners for a heart condition.
People have been very kind and her funeral was a lovely celebration of her life. She will be missed. I hope I can touch as many lives as she did in such a wonderful way. Many times I saw her demonstrating love to the unlovely.
We have had several days of warm weather which means our snow is melting and everything is very messy and slippery. The snow has been fun for our local children. It has been years since we have had much snow and sleds have been used daily. What fun.
Time to run. Bless you all.
