Little House on the Windy Prairie

I started my garden today by reducing, reusing, recycling and rethinking!

I got seeds going in mini greenhouses.  You know, those nasty plastic containers that cookies and other treats come in from the evil box stores?  Well I got the idea yesterday to put soil in them and start my seeds in there.  I watered them, closed the lid and set them in the sun.  Now I think this is a great solution because our soil doesn't warm up enough around here until late June.  We are still getting cold nigths that will kill plants and seedlings, but these little plastic boxes should warm up enough so that the soil inside gets warm and they act as their own little micro environment and collect condensation.  If it gets too windy we can just move them inside to window sills.  If they don't sprout we can always buy plants.  This however, seamed like a great solution to reusing those nasty plastic things of which only about 1/2 can be recycled around here and my desier to plant something!!!!  I had enough of those plastic clam like boxes to start 3 kinds of peppers, cucumbers, and  hubard squash,  These are all staples from our garden in IN.  If I could get them started from seed here and harvest something-wahooo.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philp. 4:6-7
