Food and Thought

Good morning ladies!

I hope this day finds each of you feeling God's presence, His wind and His love! I know I woke up with Him on my mind, in my thoughts today and was able to jump right into my work. I've only got a minute but there were a few things I wanted to share.

First off, let me tell you about the Cinnamon Roll recipe I downloaded from www.marmeeskitchen.com oh my my. She has down it again and made me like her even more! My husband loved the rolls, said they were my best yet! Her recipe calls for a Bosch Mixer, of which I don't have and so you CAN use your Kitchen Aid if you have one of those. They are great! Go get the free download and tell everyone about marmmedear.com!

Also, I wanted to comment on the "Radio Evil" post I made last night. I appreciate you who have replied. There is a certain amount of truth in a lot of things, I believe. One replied saying that there is evil in the t.v. as well, and she is correct. I just wondered what people knew about those who agreed with the radio being evil.

Ok, Ok, what I really need help with , and I know my friend Brenda may like to hear this as well....I would like to get into the habit of having a plan for each day, a schedule of sorts. The girls and I did use a breakfast plan for most of last year, and we did a who's day to do the dishes plan as well. It really does work out. I've just got to get us all back into that habit. But real meal planning for the weeknights and weekends is going to be new to us and I know beneficial. So, who can comment on this? I'll give you some insight. My husband is not home during the week, so the weeknight meals would be for the girls and I (although I may need to adjust sometimes for surprise trips home!). He is home on Fri., Sat., and Sunday though. We don't buy a lot from the grocery store anymore. Condiments and such, lunch meat and meat to cook with, but that is about all. I make all my bread products and milk, eggs and cheese is bought from the Amish. Any advice or input or your own ideas are welcomed.

Ok, my minute is up, so I need to go do those tomatoes. It's a sauce day!

Melissa

Hi there, I wish I had some advice about schedules but I do not. I am a fly by the seat of my pants kind of girl. I bought the Managers of Their Homes kit to make a MOTH schedule and the schedules remain hung on the cupboards unused and un-followed. Best wishes trying to find what works for you.

Planning Meals

Over the weekend I did actually plan meals (dinners) for the next 2 weeks. I referred to some menu suggestions in Debi Pearl's book and picked some of my husband's favorites. As I was filling those in on my calendar that hangs on the frig, I also added items to my groc list that I will need to pick up. All of this was done in about 15 minutes. It can be done :) I used to plan out my meals for years when my children were younger and would create a plan for the whole month. I've just gotten out of the habit. :) Being prepared and planning ahead...two items needed in being the wives, mothers and women of God that we are called to be. I know they sure help things run smoother in my home when I am prepared and when I plan ahead in ALL matters.

I thank God daily for giving me the wisdom I need to accomplish the tasks He has set for me. I just need to be obedient. Another term that I am learning more and more about in my growth of late.

God Bless,
Brenda

Thank you for the kind comment you left on my blog. Your affirming words are a great encouragement to me.

About scheduling, I was going to suggest Managers of Their Homes, just as commenter #1 did. That book, available from www.titus2.com is very beneficial. It really explains the how and why of implementing a schedule; plus, it gives you a road map of sorts for making up a schedule. My home works much better when I am keeping to my schedule---not that I cannot be flexible, of course. But for the most part, I stick to it....you know, certain days for errands, certain chores, extra baking, blogging. If I don't follow a schedule, I tend to run out of time because I'm not doing the things that I have purposed to do.

And when I am faithful about planning meals, my meals are healthier and on-time. When I just wing it, it doesn't go as well. I just need to be disciplined to regularly meal plan.
