Muddy Boot Acres

Saturday, September 23, 2006 - Back again!

It's been a while! After dealing with soda in the keyboard, and then the business of farm life I have been neglecting my writings!

This is  the season of preserves, and I have been trying to get some put up. I did get the chance to get about a bushel of peaches done both cold pack and some jelly.  Once again though it didn't set up.  It still tastes good though.  I also bought two bushel of Macintosh to make applesauce.   That is done and next week I will buy a half or more to make the apple pie in a jar.   It has been raining here so much that I don't think I will get those tomatoes for making my soup.  I was looking forward to that this winter too!

Nature has been kind in that we have yet to start a fire yet.   I think it will be a terribly cold winter and I don't want to be frivalous with our wood.   I did baking the one day it was cold and wet and that seemed to take the chill off.   The fresh bread and pie smell wasn't bad, either!

Today the family gathered for my grandmother's 90th birthday celebration, and we all enjoyed being together in one place at the same time.  Fifteen of us all together and in one room!  Family pictures will be put up as soon as they are developed.

I am losing milk quickly as my one doe hasn't milked for a week now, and my good doe has been dropping.  I don't know if it is the season, or what .  I dropped a quart a day!  She hasn't any symptoms or giving and reason other than less milk.  I am milking moringings only now.

School started for us two weeks ago and I am already getting the swing of algebra I.  Maybe I can get through it  this time!

Sunday, September 24, 2006 - You Can Do It

Posted by Patti
Yes, you can get through Algebra I. I did, and if I can do it anyone can. I am now doing Algebra I with my son, and it really is easy now that I just did it with my daughter 2 years ago.
I, too, have been offline for awhile. With my bountiful harvest and starting school, I have not had much time for blogging. In addition, I have really felt the Lord speaking to me about how much time I spend on the computer. I was out of my house (through the internet) too much, so I am cutting back. I do miss my online friendships, but I am enjoying my home.
Just wanted to check in on your blog to see what was new.
Blessings,
Patti
