Muddy Boot Acres

Sunday, January 3, 2010 - 21.9

That is how cold/warm it is today.   It is hard to believe that last Saturday Tommy  was still here and the weather was good enough to throw some steaks on the grill outside.   Now it sits with almost 2 ft of snow on it.

What does one do when it is so cold?  Well, most stay in.  Today happened to be the day that Tom had to shovel at the church.  He took our snow blower down there only to find that  somewhere between home and the church the drive decided not to work.  Luckily, the church has one in the back garage so he blew snow while another member and I worked with the shovels at the entry. Most people stayed home today which made a low count in the pews.   Pastor even had to be rescued from a drive off the snow covered roads.  He made it just in time for the message and give communion.  The message was slightly changed though because of the attendance.  He did something very unusual but very enlightening.  He showed us a video sermon from Louis Giglio, How Great is our God .   Excellent way to put things into perspective!  If you get to youtube, be sure to look at all the videos that go with it.  They are very short but worth every "second" of it.  You will understand what I mean if you watch them.

After coming home it was evident that we needed that blower to work.  So while Jess and I went out to tend to the animals and frozen waters, Tom fixed the snow blower.  You can see how much fun it can be.  He taught Jess how to use it.

A gigantic snow blowed mound makes a terrific snowman head!

But look around...it may be pretty, but it isn't very nice.  Ken called to tell us that they closed I-90 from state line to state line.  It was closed for about 3 hours this afternoon.

During a mild minute it was a chance to split and load up on  some wood.

But if you turned around and faced north, you can see how it really was out over the pasture.

How long will it last?  They said it was only until 6 last night.  Then 7 this morning.  Now they are calling for the worst to be over by 7 tomarrow morning.   But those temps and flakes are going to last all week!
