Homestead Wannabe

• 2006-Apr-7 - Our homesteading field trip and 2 questions

You've got to click over to my homeschool blog to see the great homestead we visited today.  It was inspiring!!!

Also, I'm thinking about getting a few chickens mainly for the eggs.  I've got to continue on our quest to eat better so....... any of you out there with coop wisdom, chicken wisdom or any of the such I NEED HELP.

Our lot is predominately shaded with some sunny spots.  They would not get sun all day.  I know nothing so any references to websites, homesteaders who know bunches or anythingof the like is welcome and appreciated.

Also, I know the Whisper Mill is very popular for grinding wheat.  I want to make a week's worth of bread at a time.  What mixer do you recommend?

So.....help me out.  Oh, and don't forget to check out today's blog entry at my homeschool site.

Merci!!!

I must say I love my Bosch - my kitchen Aid was good but my Bosch handles the volume I want with ease. Bread is baking as I type - we did extra tonight since bad weather is due here soon and if the power goes off it will be a while before we get it back. We are last on their list since we live on a not very populated mountain!

Hello!

I really enjoyed looking at the pictures from your field trip. What a neat place to visit. I'd love to have some of the wool from those goats for spinning. :-)

In regard to your mixer question.....I love my Bosch too. I've had mine for 15 years now and have never had a problem with it. It was definitely worth the price.
