Snow Day!

We got about 4 inches of snow last night so I have decided to declare a SNOW DAY! Okay, clearly the snowy roads don't really affect my homeschooled children and they can safely make it to the kitchen table. (actually the path to the table is a treacherous obstacle course of toys!) However, the excitement of a snow day was one of the few joys I had during my years of school, and I want my kids to feel the pleasure of a surprise free day. And, to be totally honest, my house is a wreck and I could use the day to catch up while my kiddos are outside. I made it a requirement of the snow day that they actually go outside and play for a large part of the day rather than playing the WII all day. Yes, we have a wii, it was given to us for Christmas and it is wonderful! The kids actually get a lot of exercise playing tennis or bowling on days that it is too cold to go outside. So, I am greatly anticipating ending this day with an orderly house. However, my children will come home eventually! Our house is very small and it always feels like we are busting out at the seams. We are considering building a school/rec room in the back of our barn. I think it would make a huge difference since the school stuff is a large part of our problem. Another fun thing today.... I am heading over to check on the herd of goats we sold to a friend. They are really close to kidding and she wants me to check and see how long I think it will be. This is her first kidding season and their whole family is excited but nervous. And, true to the personality of goats, they will most likely kid this weekend when our weather is going to be the coldest so far this winter. I really miss the goats, but I am not missing checking on them throughout the night to make sure new babies don't freeze. 'Course, this is the only winter I will have the break because I will most likely get a few more goats this spring. Well, it is extremely late and I haven't done any chores. I will walk out the door and my cows are gonna let me know what they think of having to wait for breakfast. Plus, we live next door to my husband's parents and they left yesterday for a 15 day cruise (WOW!) and I am doing their chores as well. I guess I should get on that. I am gonna try and post a picture of the view off my back deck. Anytime the size of my house frustrates me, I just have to remember how blessed I am to wake up and love looking out my windows. God blesses us so much every day. He shows me His great love daily. Out of all the joys I have, my husband, my children, my little homestead, nothing compares to walking with Him.
