The Pouring Teapot

This week is all about sharing about teapots. Do you have one? two? or three? maybe more? Is it for display only or do you use it for tea? What is the tea server you use most? Your favorite teapot (or is it something like a quart jar?). Tell your teapot story, give it's history, and tell what it means to you. You can share more than once if you'd like. Antique, new, Asian, English, or something inbetween --- we'd love to know!

Imagine two shearers, two helpers, their father and elderly uncle, a wool throwing table, brooms, lots of noise from the shears, maybe a dog or two.  Then at morning tea, one of the helpers wives comes with a large metal tea pot, mugs, milk, sugar and loads of cakes including beer cake & jam drops.  The section near the wool, the spare piece of floor in the shed, that actually has lino on it is now where we eat and drink.  This is my memory of not this teapot, it was the standin.  It was very enjoyable and well ordered.  It is the best tea I have had.

The teapot is for display.  I also have a white teapot with pink spots, and a normal sized metal teapot.

Hello down under! I'm from way up above in North Idaho and so nice that you came to visit so far. I sure liked your interesting tea parties! And the damper recipies are quite different than ones I've ever seen. The photos of your area are so beautiful! I'll have to work on that. Keep in touch. I'ts always nice to see how other sahm's live!

I enjoyed your post very much. Your pretty little metal teapot brings such warm memories. I just about felt like I was right there, observing you and your loved ones sheering the sheep and taking a happy tea break. And your pictures brought back memories for me as well. We had a bottle baby we named Fluffy who lived with us for about 10 years. She was the eldest's gentle pet. Usually gentle, that is. Sometimes she would play 'bunting games' as taught to her by an energetic little boy! Once she had triplets and what a special time raising them was for our family. Our neighbor raised sheep, so when the shearer came to shear. . .we would put a harness on Fluffy and 'try' to walk her over to the neighbors so she could be sheered as well. But Fluffy was too smart for her own good, and after one year of that, she was ornery as can be and would balk all the way. I'm sure we looked a funny sight --- me, pulling Fluffy along the road with a little boy in tow and a toddler in hand. Such memories. . .thank you for reminding me.

And thank you for your great posts on Gracious Hospitality for our friendly tea event!

I really enjoyed reading your blog domesticallyinclided. I will definitely try to drop by again.

LaTeaDah I am so glad you enjoyed the post. I was going to put a sheep warning on the top, I was worried about the post!

I had a sheep that wasn't part of the flock, and she could butt too! Triples sounds so special. I'm sure those with sheep could relate to what you said about leading, and would think nothing of it.

We had a sheep that was in the flock but was specially used to lead sheep around when she was on a lead herself, I'm sure she was unusual.

Don't you just love sheep bottles, I see such things around here in shops sometimes.

Thanks for having me, I enjoyed it immensely.

What a wonderful memory of taking tea during shearing season! I am so glad to see your simple stand in pot as my plain old copper kettle is my favorite thing to brew tea. Thank you for sharing this delightful post.

Hi Linda,
You visited my blog (Patra's Other Place) recently and left a nice message, but for some reason I couldn't respond to you via that link. Sorry about that, didn't mean to be rude and ignore you! I've spent a lot of time on your blog and thoroughly enjoy it. A great opportunity for the rest of the world to see how things are done in rural Australia...good chance for us city folk too!
Seeing your metal teapot made me think that one of us Aussies should have posted a pic of a billy kettle and explained how they are used!
Cheers,
Gina in Melbourne
