Wednesday, May 7, 2008 - Set the Table, Tea is On!

Posted in Tea Blog-a-Thon

May 4 - May 10
Share a creative afternoon tea table setting.  Linens, serving pieces, teapots and teacup, tea accotrement's and accessories, centerpieces, tea trays or three-tiers, and more.  Show one way you enjoy creating a memorable tea experience.  This is your opportunity to show the world
the fun you have when you create your own special tea experience. Then. . .invite over a friend or neighbor and share some tea together. That way all your work is not for ought.

This photo is from a Flickr album, to view this album click here.

My children would love this tea experience.  This is called Billy Tea.  I have a tea set that my Mother In Law gave me, but it is packed away for the time being, so today I am talking about another nice way to enjoy tea.

Here is a recipe for Billy Tea.  Here is the history of Billy Tea

This is the setting for Billy Tea.  It is served with damper.  In American terms I think damper is a giant biscuit.  There are lots of gourmet damper recipes around these days, but probably not for around the campfire.

What a fun post! Thank you for sharing about Billy Tea. I also posted about Billy Tea once on Gracious Hospitality. If you check the archives under 'afternoon tea' you could find the post. My picture was from a shanty on the beach --- thanks for sharing!

I love the idea for the tea. I have had a couple of teas at my house and am hoping to have another soon. I will have to take a picture and post about it on my blog next time.
I love the crochet apron I featured on my blog for the farm girl blog a thon. I know that my mom has one like it she purchased an antique store in our area. I am going to ask her to borrow it so I can see if I can figure out the pattern. I am not sure if they are something you could find in Australia. Do you crochet? I love to crochet.
Blessings,
Ruth

Oh, that looks like a really fun tea! I love the fact that it's different, a lot different, than what you think of for the "norm" in tea.

you are all very kind.

LaTeaDah I was wondering if you were familiar with billy tea. I will definitely read it today.

I found an American vintage crochet pattern on the Australian ebay so that was interesting. I do crochet, I like it better than knitting.
