2006-Jan-4 - Pellet Stoves vs Wood Stoves vs ?
Does anyone out there have some pros n cons to add to our list here....? Maybe someone has used both and prefers one to the other ?
We love the simplicity of pellet....but that's about it.......and miss wood for various reasons...
Just pondering --anyone have any opinions ? Any other options for heating ?
Thanks
Lisa

Hi...
For those of us that are super allergic...wood smoke is bad stuff...Pellets are less allergenic....

We used to have a pellet stove in PA (we lived in the Allegheny Mountains on about 3 acres surrounding state game land, different story though!) I've never done or had a wood stove, but I loved, loved, loved my pellet stove. So easy to adjust the temp (ours had a thermostat), clean, and funny enough I loved to listen to the little clink they made as they were dropping into the hopper. I also liked that we just got delivered a ton (literally) of pellets in the fall (we pre-ordered in the spring for a discount, and didn't have to cut or haul our own. At that point even though we had land, I did not have a "homesteader" heart, only really acquired one when we got here to FL, life was overwhelming in PA. Anyway.....I'm sure there are positives to a wood stove but those are the positives of a pellet.
