2007-Sep-5 - Fall has arrived at our Homestead
Can it be Fall already!?! Wow--Summer came and went quickly this year! It's harvest time in the Northwest, and we are canning, freezing and dehydrating all we are blessed with! Today we'll can pears....but over the weekend, the apple trees were stripped of their fruit and we made this ever so easy applesauce...try it!
Crock Pot Applesauce
When the trees are heavy with apples, we make homemade applesauce! This can be canned or frozen and you can adjust to your family’s liking!
Cut apples into pieces, toss in the crock pot until full, add 1C water. Put the lid on and leave it be for the day, or overnight. Stir occasionally, and eventually your apples will soften and turn to sauce. Add Sugar or cinnamon to your tastes, or nothing at all! Cool, can or freeze and you’re done! EASY!
