Our Little Homestead

2006-Mar-4 - a few neat resources... and todays happenin's....

The girlies and I took off this mornin' and went to town----yes, 2 days in a row--I can't believe it myself!  We left Daddy to sleep in, and went in to the lil' coffee place we like, and dropped off a movie.  We found a neat new magazine, I'd never heard of  before called The Backwoodsman.....looks pretty good--I got that one for Marc (well...sorta) and then picked up the Herb Companion and Back Home ....I have subs to Backwoods Home & Countryside....my favorites....so these were extra treats, I usually don't buy a whole lotta magazines....(maybe because I work for one!?!?!) Haha!  (I am looking forward to pouring thru em after we get the girls tucked in for the night! ) We had a really nice morning....!

We got home and did some house chores....the girls went outside with Daddy to play and help him burn paper trash and do some raking.  The love their little fort they've made under a beautiful fir tree, that Marc trimmed all the lower branches on, on one side for them.  They have a little birdhouse in there....and they get there 'household wares' out of their playhouse...such as their old washboard, broom, and clothesline....and had a ball!

I put some essential oils (Marmee Dear & Co.'s, "Garden Dew"--OH MY --it is heavenly!) on the stove, got some loaves of bread risin', got clothes on the dry rack...and my darlin' husband got me a new "Solar Dryer"...so I used that--worked like a charm--I'll have to get pics!

Got the laundry all done, beds made up fresh with a spritz (or three) of my linen spray--another heavenly scent! (Thanks Marmee!) Got the house cleaned nicely....bread baked, candles done up, and some cookies baked.  When everyone came in from outside~they all got nice hot baths (including Cooter-the dog:) ! Folded laundry up, made up steak fajitas (had to open that wonderful salsa we got yesterday! ok-I confess, I had some chips n salsa for breakfast!) but anyhow--dinner was yummy!  Have a turkey breast unthawing for Sunday Supper, and cleaned out the pantry.  I think I'm about done for the day!

I did get a catalog in the mail today from Gardens Alive! which has a $25.00 coupon in it--no purchase neccesary!!  Has anyone ever done biz with them and if so--what did you think of them & their products ?   I am thinkin' of ordering just to use the freebie coupon!

That's about it for tonight......hope you all enjoy your weekend!

Have a blessed Sunday!
Lisa

Busy lady!
Hey- I noticed you aren't raising a goat in the house. I thought you said "everyone does it"!
We will just have to fix you up so you can keep up with the Jones' (or Wellers)!

Dalyn,

No goats here--yet! I have a dog and cat in the house and it's about all I can take. OUTDOOR animals are good. :) I think it's soooo adorable that he's in the house--and he IS SO SO SO CUTE! I'd love to have baby goats.....but a big old smelly buck--eeeehhhh........no thanks.

LOL!

And I thought I did something because I cleaned my cabinets, LOL. What a day. I love it when the days flow "just right".
