2006-Sep-15 - Apples, Apples........everywhere!
I am going to try this one....since our trees are LOADED with apples....
along with New Harvest Homestead's Apple Pie Filling Recipe--which I can and it makes SUPER Christmas gifts--this weekend....
I have a few more quarts of pears to do......I was too tired yesterday to finish em off :) We'll get to that when we get home from the dr today :)
Anyhew--here's another great recipe from www.LivingonaDime.com .....................
Fried Apples
3 Tbsp. butter or margarine
4 large apples, cored and sliced (tart works best)
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
Cut apples into 1/4 inch slices. Heat butter in a large skillet. Put the apples, brown sugar, and cinnamon in the skillet and cover. Over medium-low heat, cook apple slices 7-10 minutes or until they begin to soften and the syrup thickens. Serve coated with excess syrup on top. Serves 4.

I can attest that these make a wonderful dessert all by themselves but, if you're feeling particularly self-indulgent/decandent, use them as a topping on some good (homemade if you have it) vanilla ice cream! One of our all-time favorite desserts! Okay, now I need to go get some McIntosh apples!! ;o)
Blessings,
Suze
