I wonder ....

• Saturday, April 12, 2008 - What's wrong with American women?

Some one I know from a forum asked why American women seem to be overwhelmed, tired etc.

Look at the Bible's example of how families lived ........ they lived as tribes. Women had servants to help with every aspect of being a home maker. Yes I know ...... we have dish washers, washers and dryers .... but I don't think they are even close in comparison. It doesn't bring the companionship that a servant may have brought .... the adult conversation that a stay at home, mother with many needs every once in a while. It definitely provides a service .... but that service is not complete ... it doesn't load itself or even empty itself.
I hope this isn't coming across as sounding lazy ...... that's not it at all ... but I truly believe that women are overwhelmed, stressed, and emotional because we are expected to do much more than the women of Bible times.

Another thing I noticed in an online forum was some one's signature line ......
"
If this nation elects Obama, will that make us an obamanation?" LOL ....... I LOVE it!!!

I've been bidding on some writing projects. Hopefully I'll get a few of them ..... that would help drastically with our fund raising efforts toward the down payment of a new home.

I agree with you.. I know for me sometimes just having someone to talk to is worth more than anything.. I mean we have our children and they are great.. But they are not another women who may or may not went thru what we are going thru.. We have to do it all, be it all, with our families. Then you add to it like me a single mom who has all it on there backs and well it is easy to get overwelemed with just the normal daily things... It is nice just to have a another adult to talk to ....
god bless

I was thinking the same thing when I read that post. machines can be very helpful but they aren't encouraging friend/relative who can give a hug and listen to us.

They lived in tribes - which means Grandma lived with you and you know what Grandma did? Hold and rockthe babies, and help mind the younger ones as mama was able to work at managing the household and the servants....

If I remember my history correctly.........
Women were 'property' at best in Bible times? And if my historical memory serves me right, they were not treated "Christ-like" at all! And seems that most of their 'servants' eventually had relations with their husbands...........

It's kinda like the Israelites that were wandering around in the desert........they longed for, even moaned and grumbled for "the good times when they ate leaks and melons, and pots of meat"......(Exodus 16) When actually, they were slaves, beaten, barley fed and treated like rubbish.

God quickly reminded them.

I think "American Women" have traded what God has given them for satans lie.(Gee thanks Oprah!) That is why they are so harried and miserable. They would rather have the praises of man (and women) than to serve the Lord where He wants them. So they go to work, or they call themselves stay at home moms, yet sign up for every ministry in town, every play group, every sport, every social club......or worse, they sit around and stew because they cannot do all these things and a bitter root takes hold of their heart.......and all of this is so far out of God's Will, yet they think because someone tells them "OH GOOD JOB we couldn't do it without you"......that they are where "they belong".
That's just the devil sweet talking!

Blessings!
I have to say that though you can equate SOME of the women to higher living styles, what about those servant women? THEY didn't have servants or live the high life.
The women of means were an exception not a rule. Not to say that women aren't harried today but really, society has encouraged women to live outside of their God given roles as women, wives, mothers, daughters.
It isn't what pleases my husband that encourages me, it's what pleases my Lord. Perhaps if the harried ones took time to slow down a little and smell the flowers with their loved ones they may come to realize they aren't as isolated as they think:)
Thank you for the post, it's true food for thought:)
God be with thee!

About Me

We are a family of 9 right now. Our dreams of homesteading have taken flight .... even if the plane is still sitting on the runway, at least we have flight plans. We home school, home church and run home businesses. Our favorite thing to do is spend time together <GASP> Yes, we actually enjoy each others company. Some times we just sit, chatting ... other times we're watching the races ..... at times we're reading books ..... and other times we're just playing with what ever we can find. This blog will be used to keep track of the journey we're on .... the journey of life ... I'll post about many things .... like ....... drama skits my children create, how to's of homesteading (or maybe the how-not-to's as I find them out), home school projects, lessons and findings, basic thoughts running through my brain ... and probably everything in between. I look forward to your wisdom, input & friendship.
