Old Crow Farm

Friday At Last!!!!

It's been a wild week of storms and tornado watches.    I know this is only one of the signs of Spring in Kansas but I sure could do without this sign!!!   The sun is out now and while it's a little cool, it's not bad.   There is a chance of rain this afternoon (Hard to believe looking at that sky right now!) but then it's suppose to be over until Monday or Tuesday.   That's ok with me, there's tons of things that need done around this old farm and we really need some warm, dry days to do them.
Keith started putting the old barn wood up in the cabin last night and it looks as though we are going to be lucky if there is enough to do the living room.   It's amazing that a pile of wood can stack so high and cover so little!  I guess it also goes without saying that this old barn wood doesn't run "true" so that means Keith is having to do a lot of adjusting to each piece he puts up.   He said he's still not sure he likes it but I can tell you from the few pieces that are up, I'm in love with it!!!   It gives me that old primitive look I so wanted.  I just pray there is enough to do the whole room...Some of the wood has flecks of white paint on them and I've told him to try and save all those back so they can go on one wall.    Wish you could have seen the look he gave me on that one.~~~Like there is going to be enough to save anything back! HA
Tomorrow we are calling a day of rest....We're loading the little ones up and taking off for Topeka.   Number one, I need some major groceries but mainly it's because I'm hoping we'll hit some yard sales!   There's just something about being cooped up all winter that makes me long to find some cheap "treasures"!   It's really probably to early in the season for to many sales but one can only hope.
Ok, I'm back!   When this was started this morning, I thought I was going to be a lady of leisure!   Where I made my mistake was going out to check on Keith in the cabin.  He talked me into helping him barn wood one whole wall in the living room part of the cabin.   Ok, it's not done but one more row and it will be!   I see now why he was having so many problems...Putting up those old pieces of wood is like putting a puzzle together.   It was kind of fun though but it's sure shot my day all to pieces.
Well, I've got steak thawing out for Swiss Steak for supper so I need to go in there and bake something to go with it.   I hope everyone has a safe, fun weekend!   Blessings, Sher
