A Sunny Friday on the Farm!

How wonderful to wake up this morning to blessed sunshine!!!!   Last night was one of those nights when a person wonders why they want to live in Kansas!   It started yesterday afternoon with high winds, rain and tornado warnings.   By evening we were getting more of the same only this time the winds were high enough we lost our electricity.   For over three hours we sat in the dark with nothing but candles for light.   It would have been nice and peaceful for a change but Drew just happened to have his GameBoy charged up so we all got to listen to that thing make it's wonderful sounds.   By the time the power finally came back on, everyone was in bed and half asleep!

I can't believe it's been so long since I have had a chance to write.   It seems as if all our spare time has been spent working on "The Money Pit" as we have loving came to call our new cabin.  (For an explanation, check out my other Blog: http://oldcrowfarmks.blogspot..com/   Keith has really had a time trying to work around all this cold, stormy weather we have had but at last we have it pretty well enclosed.   Well, I guess that's not a true statement....We still don't have all the detail work (Soffits, trim, porch, ect..) done but at least we don't have to worry about rain anymore.   He finally got our "new" old wooden door on the front hung but with bad weather coming he was forced to put up an old wooden black storm door we had laying around.  Now that it's up I kind of like it and I'm thinking of keeping it, just cleaning it up and giving it a good coat of paint.
Speaking of paint I'm certainly not happy with what we have bought for it.   My dream was to have it the color of old weathered wood (You know that whitish/gray color) and I even took a sample of wood with me to have it color matched.   Imagine my surprise when I came back and found the girl had made up $100 worth of paint in a dark BROWN!!!!   I almost had a light stroke.   I explained to her how the siding came primed in a tan color, so the last thing I wanted to do was paint it brown!!!!   So, she mixed up another batch that was suppose to be a light gray.   To call it gray is stretching it a whole lot!   The only time it looks gray is if you hold it up to white!!!   Oh well, for $100 that's the color it's going to be!!!!
Keith will continue to work on the outside and then we'll be working on the inside a little at a time.   I'm hoping we'll be able to find some old barn wood as that is what I would really like the inside to be done in.   Wishful thinking on my part I'm sure!
The cabin is going to have to take a backseat for awhile as Keith needs to get our ridding lawnmowers all ready for summer.   I can't believe how this little bit of rain has caused everything to green up and grow!   That's fine with me, I'm more than ready for some warm weather!   I started a bunch of seeds a couple of weeks ago in my greenhouse and only a few of sprouted.   I guess it just hasn't been warm enough even in there!
Well, it's time to get busy.   I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and that you all have warm weather and are able to be outside.   I'll sign this off with a picture of our cabin three days ago.   Blessings, Sher
