And Now ICE!!!!
|
We woke up this morning to ice hitting the windows. After three hours it finally started to let up but not before it had dropped two inches of little round balls of sleet! I'm not kidding when I say I could hardly open our back door it had piled up so high. They talk like we will get some snow before the evening is over but for now it's just dark and dreary out there. A depressing day!!!
Knowing this storm was coming Keith and I made a quick trip to town yesterday to stock up on a few groceries (We're the only family I know that goes through a gallon of milk a day!!) and to our local library. ~~~If I'm going to be stuck in the house I at least want to have a bunch of good books to read! A glance at the gas station told us gas has once again gone up. Where oil had went over a hundred dollars a barrel the day before this came as no surprise. What did come as a surprise was hearing on the noon news that bread was going to sky rocket. There's not a doubt in my mind this country is headed for a Recession and I pity the person who hasn't been living frugally because I'm afraid everyone is in for some hard times.
With cold weather today I decided to turn on the oven and do some serious baking. First I baked the Sugar Cookie dough I had made up yesterday, next came Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffins and last but not least I made a loaf of Banana Nut Bread from some bananas that were more than ripe. Not only is our house warm and toasty but it smells wonderful and we'll have tons to snack on the next couple of days.
I spent yesterday afternoon dying wool for the upcoming Hook-In Saturday. At the last minute I decided to add a design to the middle of my chair pad (A heart with flowers above it) so of course that meant I needed certain colored wool. As much as I like rug hooking it's the dying process that absolutely love! There's is something so exciting about watching wool come out of those dye pots and never knowing exactly what it will look like. Yesterday I did four different colors and since I used three different wool's in each batch, I had twelve different looks. I draped each piece over the back of our old recliner and it was like looking at a primitive, muted rainbow. Gorgeous!
Well, the day is slipping by and there's still tons to do so I best bring this to a close and get to work. I pray you all stay warm and safe. Winter Blessings, Sher |
