Good Afternoon!
It's been a wonderful day on the farm! I wonder if it's because after weeks of snow, ice and cold our weather has turned off absolutely beautiful? It's unbelievable that we have had two days of temps in the 60's. I have taken full advantage of it too....I now don't have a piece of dirty clothing in the whole house! HA My clothes lines have been full and everything smells wonderful!
Because we were all feeling better yesterday and because it was suppose to be so nice we decided to make a trip to Topeka so I could stock up at Sam's Club. Of course we weren't the only ones who decided to take advantage of the nice weather....I think every family in a two hundred mile radius was there! HA I HATE being in crowds and yesterday wasn't any exception. The only thing I have to say is we really got in on some terrific sales. Not only do the kids have a bunch of new clothes but we now have new Queen sized flannel sheets. And of course after spending $300 at Sam's Club we are well stocked in the grocery department too!!!
I also made a stop at Hobby Lobby and stocked up on a bunch of things. Since one of my "goals" this year is to make things for my friends and family I wanted to make sure I had the supplies to do it. Would you believe we now have to drive one hour for a twenty-five cents skein of floss???? I really spent the money but I didn't want to come home and find out I didn't have what I needed to start something!
A stop at the local Salvation Army store turned out to be a blessing....I was able to pick up four wool skirts for a little or nothing! I ripped them all apart last night and this afternoon I washed them in Orvus Paste and dried them in the dryer. All four pieces turned out wonderful and they'll make great backgrounds for my rug hooking.
Then if this wasn't enough I had two big boxes of wool waiting on me when I got home! I told Keith it was like having Christmas all over again! HA Of course none of these wool's are what I'm needing to make my "Turkey Track" rug so it's back to buying!....I must have a thing for "dark colors" as that seems to be all I have in my wool cupboard and I'm needing light!
Friday I heard from a girl about the possibility of putting some pictures of our primitive farm buildings in her next book. I went out today to take pictures and I couldn't believe how "sad" everything looked. I know it's just the time of year but it was so depressing to see the ground so gray/brown. I suddenly started longing for Spring and for my flowers to start popping up. I know, not much longer but it sure seems that way today.
Well, I fixed Pizza for supper so I best go in there and clean up my mess and then I want to scrub my kitchen floor. I hope this finds everyone well and that your all enjoying this warm weather we've been having. Hugs, Sher |
