Taking a Break!
|
It's been one of "those days"! I swear, this is the first time I've been off my feet since I got up this morning! To say I'm beat is the understatement of the year! Supper is pretty well lined up so for the next few minutes I'm going to catch everyone up on my day!
It all started when I came in from getting the little ones on the bus. I started right in baking that double batch of Sugar Cookies. I had no more than finished them up when I remembered I had promised Keith I would try out a new "Sweet Potato Pie with Pecan topping" recipe. Since this was a new recipe I had no idea what I was doing and I quickly found out it was one of those that you just don't throw together! Once I had it in the oven I decided I would use the left over pie dough to make "Rolly Pollies". Ok, I know that's not the real name for them but it's what my family has always called them so that's what I call them! HA
All of this cooking had a made a royal mess so it took me an hour to clean up the kitchen and load the dishwasher. As soon as Keith got his lunch out of the road I started back in cooking. This time it was home-made hot rolls. They finished backing a little while ago and I've now got a chicken and rice dish in the oven. Need I say we're not going to starve around this old farm!!!!
Yesterday I got around and finished up the little sampler I've been working on for the past few days. I have had so much trouble with it that I was to the point of throwing it away. Once I gave it a tea-bath and stained it with walnut ink, all of that changed. It is suddenly my favorite piece!!!! I'm not sure if it's the frame, the way I stitched it or the staining but that piece looks like it's straight from the attic. Keith had brought an old wooden door in the house and it's now hanging off it and I couldn't be happier. I take terrible close-up pictures (Does anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong???) but to give you an idea what it looks like go to my PictureTrail and look under "Past Works". It's called "A Practice Sampler" and it's made in memory of my Grandma Fillmore.
Well, we have company coming in an hour so I'd best get in there and get the last minute touches on our meal. I hope everyone is having a great day and your weekend will be fun and relaxing. Until tomorrow.....Blessings, Sher |
