There's Frost on the Pumpkin!
Good Morning Everyone!
Well, it's official....There was frost on the pumpkin this morning!!!!!    Our first frost of the season!    I haven't checked my flowers out by the water garden but I'm sure they will no longer be a part of our family.   I really hated to see them go because they have bloomed steadily all summer but it's that time of year so we knew we would be saying good-bye soon.   So on this chilly morning I have two fall smelling candles going and I'm starting my housework!
Chilly weather always makes me want to cook.    So far today I have "Baked Round Steak" in the crock-pot and some steak in the oven cooking down for soup.    I also have butter sitting out to get soft and later on today I'll start my Halloween Sugar cookies.   Keith would like me to make some more "Banana Nut Tea Bread"  (We got this recipe out of an old 1947 cookbook he bought several weeks ago and it's wonderful...Not sweet like most banana breads!) but I'm not sure I'm going to get around to that.
I went to the little ones Parent/Teachers Conferences last night.   We got fairly good reports.   They'll never set the world on fire with their grades but they are above average and both their teachers say they are super sweet, kind, loving children.   That means so much to us.   There are days I wonder what I was ever thinking by starting over this late in life (Those are the days when we have hours of homework!)  but I wouldn't change my life for anything.   I can't think of any way I'd rather spend the last days of  my life than being a mom.
It seems like every Fall I go on a "E-bay buying spree" and this year hasn't been any different! HA   The packages are starting to roll in so everyday at mail time it's  like Christmas!   Yesterday I received the "Halloween surprise package" I had ordered from Silkweavers.    You never know what you'll get in one of these packages but this one was wonderful!   I got three BIG pieces of linen and they are all colors I'll be able to use on my pinkeeps! YEAH   Now to find the time to cut into them! HA
Well, the house is picked up but there are still a few things I want to do before I start cross stitching.   I hope everyone is well and if you have time please whisper a little prayer for the people of California that the fires raging there are soon put out.   Blessings from Kansas!   Sher

It's still so warm here. I'd like a bit of frost. Have fun with your cookies. We're going to do our fall cookies this weekend!
To me, it is equally if not more important to know that my children have manners, civility, and kindness as intelligence!
Blessings to you and yours,
~Farrah
