A Lazy Tuesday
It's going to be a lazy Tuesday on the farm!     We have just came off of a three day weekend with the little ones.   I have to admit I really hated to see it end!   Other than Jeni having a slight case of that nasty flu that is going around it was the perfect weekend.   The little ones didn't fight, Keith and I got to do some shopping and I did a ton of crafts.   It couldn't have been any better!!!!
But alas, now the work week has started.    My babies are on their way to school, Keith will be heading to the cabin to finish up the ceiling (We bought paint for the ceiling Saturday so it's almost there!) and shortly I'll be walking through the house and giving it a quick once-over and then the day will be mine.    Oh yes, I will be making a quick run to town as I have two packages to mail off to friends.
One thing that Keith and I accomplished this weekend was the start to our weekly menu.   First we sat down and wrote down all our very favorite dishes.  (It didn't come as any surprise when there were more desserts than actual food! HA)   Next we printed off a weekly menu planner and then we started filling it in.    I was amazed at how much fun we had working on that thing.    It became a game to see how many meals we could fix using left overs from the night before!    We gave serious thought to each thing we did....Since we know Seth and Codi will be here Friday night so we can go to an auction Saturday, we planned something special for that night allowing left-overs for lunch on Saturday when Keith and I will be gone!   It's so nice to glance a the menu early of a morning and know just what we'll be having for supper.   I now just walk down to the deep freeze,  pull out the meat for the day and unless there is a dessert to be made I'm done until it's time to start supper.   So much easier than walking around asking everyone what they would like for supper.    AND, I honestly think we'll save money by cooking like this.  This week we spent $150 on groceries and by having every meal lined up, I think we can stretch that for two weeks.....A long ways from the $250 I normally spend!!!!   So, maybe I'm on my way to being organized at long last! HA
As I mentioned earlier, I've been working on some crafts.   Mainly some more little primitive pinkeeps.   I made two for a friend and just as I was getting ready to put them together, my oldest daughter called.    She had just received the ones I made her and was absolutely in love with them.    So much so, that she asked me to make her friend, Nikki, one for her wedding which is this coming Saturday.    So,  I laid the two aside and started right in on Nikki's.   (I HATE to sew so when I do I want to do everything at once.)   While I have met Nikki, I really don't know her so I'm not sure she would want something primitive like I normally make.   So, I decided to do her's a little different.  I tried to use soft colors and "love" motifs.   I was really pleased how it turned out and now I want to make my married kids one like it.   Hopefully I'm soon going to have a PictureTrail account set up so everyone can see my work.   I also hope to offer some for sale from it.
Well darn....It looks as though my plans have just changed for the day.    The men have just showed up to put our new roof on!   While I'm thankful for the roof I don't see how I can ever get out of my driveway for the trucks!    Looks like my mail carrier may be mailing my packages for me.    So, on that note I'll sign off and get to work.   Have a great day.   Fall Blessings, Sher

I have to read your blog each night to see what you've been up to! Busy as usual! GEEZ -- you spend $150 a week? I only get that for two weeks -- I really need to make a menu!
