Time is Flying!!!!!
|
It's Wednesday morning on the farm and I'm at a complet loss as to where the week has went! Our weekend was so busy that I just knew when Monday rolled around I would have all this time on my hands. Well, that certainly wasn't the case. There's so much to tell so I best get on it...............
Last Thursday Keith and I went to Iola, Ks. to buy the last of our grocery items for the long weekend ahead of us. Anyone who knows me knows that I can't go to Iola and not go in my favorite flea market. After all, there might be some great treasures there with my name on them! HA That turned out to be the case Thursday! I got a wonderful old shabby chic bookcase, some kitchen items and then the real find of the day was BOOKS!!! I swear they had the most wonderful Amish and Civil War books I have ever seen. I picked up a few of those and also got a great ole book on the Ghost towns of Kansas! A really good haul!
Now for our weekend..... For two weeks Codi has been planning Seth's 21st birthday party. It's been hard keeping it from him (You wouldn't believe the excuses I've had come up with to keep him from coming home!) but we pulled it off!
Friday evening Sam and Renee came in from Nebraska. We hadn't seen them since the wedding so ended up staying up until 1:00 a.m. chatting with them. Need I say I was beat the next morning!!!!
We woke up Saturday to a gorgeous sunny day. Seth and Codi showed up around 10:00 and Seth bought our story that when Renee found she didn't have to work that weekend they just jumped in the car and came down surprising everyone! The boys decided this would be a good time to paint our little front porch (Our house has vinyl sidding with only the porch being wood.) so the girls all loaded up and we went to the new antique shop we have just discovered.
Keith and I hadn't bought Sam and Renee a wedding gift because we had told them we wanted it to be something special and that they would have forever. Renee loves antiques like I do so we told her if there was anything she liked at the antique shop we would buy it for them. She had no idea what a hard choice lay ahead of her! HA
The first antique shop we went to she fell in love with a couple of pieces. (So did I! HA) I wouldn't let her get them because I knew the next antique shop had the really good stuff but I promised her if she didn't find anything she liked better we would come back to the first one. The minute she walked into the second shop she was in heaven. (I swear, it's that good!!!) Codi (Who doesn't even like antiques!) went as nuts as Renee! They were running back and forth saying, "Look at this!", "Oh, I love that!". Poor ole Keith (Who we had brought along to load our goodies!) finally went out and sat down on the front porch and waited for us to make our decision so he could put his muscles to work! HA
She finally narrowed it down to two antique cupboards. I'll bet she walked the length of that building a dozen times comparing one to the other! HA Right from the beginning I knew which of the two I would have choosen but I didn't say anything because this was HER decision for HER home. Finally she turned around and said, "Ok Sherry, I know which one you would choose...You like the gray one don't you?" I admitted I did because it had more of a primitive feel to it but I told her both of them were great. When it was all said and done she decided on the one I liked and it was only a matter of me writing the check and Keith loading it up! So, while they now have a gorgeous antique cupboard it's MY shop it's sitting in....We'll take it to them the next time we go to Neb.! (Along with a ton of other goodies Renee wants out of my shop!)
Sarurday night we grilled steaks and then the bigger kids went to the cabin to watch movies and I cleaned house. On Sunday everyone was up bright and early and I started in cooking for our birthday dinner. I really thought Seth would get suspicious with all we were doing but he didn't seem to notice. However, when all of Codi's family came driving in, the look on his face was priceless!!!!! We really did suprise him!!!!! He made out like a bandit and said it was the best birthday party he ever had.....And we had a ball eating and chatting with everyone!!!!!
Monday we ran to the Sale Barn has I had to pay my friend Rhenda for a quilt she had bought me and then yesterday we spent all day in Lawrence at the dentist with Drew. We went shopping afterwards and I bought a ton of neat things but I'm going to wait and tell you about them at another time.......For now I have to get this house cleaned up and then I have several things I'll be designing through out the day. I hope everyone is having a great week and your weather is staying cooler than ours! Blessings to All, Sher |
