A Sunny Tuesday on the Farm!
|
How wonderful to wake up this morning and find the dark skies gone and in their place blessed sunshine!!!! I hate myself for being this way but when the skies are gloomy I can not make myself get in gear and do anything. So, with the sun out I have more plans than I know I'll ever get done in one day!
The first thing on my "list" was to get this house back in order! It's always a mess after weekends and this week was worse than normal because of all the stuff we bought in Topeka Friday. Yesterday was a wasted day because of being so tired so today was the day to get it all put away...Guess you could say my Monday in reverse! I have worked like a dog and now other than the master bedroom, the house is starting to look like someone lives in it.
One of the things on my list to do today is to get some seeds started in my greenhouse! Heck, if I don't get started soon, it's going to be to late. What I usually do, is start them in trays and then when they get a little height on them I transplant them over into individual containers. By doing this, it allows the plant to really take off and I have some to give away to friends. I've always had good luck with this and I'm hoping this year won't be any different. I have a million and one seeds, potting soil and containers, it's just a question of getting out there and getting it done!
Speaking of my plants, I had a nice surprise yesterday. A couple that we know who live about four miles from us brought us over a load of old cow/horse manure from an old barn they were cleaning out! I can just see some of your rolling your eyes and wondering what kind of person gets excited over old manure. Well, I'M one who does!!!! This stuff is black gold in my eyes! I had them dump it in a pile out back and I'll slowly work it into my compost pile as well as my gardens. Doesn't take much to make this old farm gal happy!
While I'm in the greenhouse today, Keith will be busy working on the cabin. I don't think there's a muscle in that man's body that doesn't hurt from all he's been doing. Seth will be on Spring Break next week from college and I know he's looking forward to his help. Until then he's having to make-do with Drew's (See enclosed picture) and when your not quite seven years old, your not a lot of help! HA
Well, time to get to back to work. Have a wonderful day and think Spring thoughts! Hugs, Sher ![]() |
