What a Night!!!!

It has been one of those nights when there was no sleep in this household!   It started off yesterday afternoon when our county was put in a tornado watch.   Jeni had gone to her first sleep-over the night before and we were to pick her up around 1:00 P.M..   When the weather started turning bad we decided whether the birthday party was over or not, she was coming home!   By the time we got home the rains had hit.   Surprisingly it was over about as quickly as it started and within an hour the sun had came out.   We thought we had made it through the worst of it and really didn't give it much more thought.
By the time darkness fell once again the winds picked up and our local television channel said "tornado warning".  It was on this same channel we saw that a tornado had hit Kansas University earlier that day and we couldn't believe our eyes when one of Seth's high school classmates was being interviewed!   Talk about scary!!!  I'm sure his parents about had a light stoke when they heard what had happened!
Several years ago Keith had bought a weather radio for $45 and at the time I was furious with him.   I now realize this was money well spent!   All night long the winds blew and every ten minutes the bells and whistles on that radio would shrill through the house giving us the latest update on the weather.   By the time morning rolled around Keith and I both felt like we had been drug through a knot-hole!   We'll definitely be taking naps this afternoon!
As bad as last night was Friday was just as good!    It was wonderful seeing Sam and Renee again and the best part was....I got to see pictures of Renee's wedding dress and hear all the plans for their wedding.   I felt so honored to think my future daughter-in-law was including us in her big day.   Once again I'm reminded how lucky we are to have her as a part of our family.
No day is complete in Topeka unless we do a little shopping!   One thing I was really wanting to buy was a metal barn star for our new cabin.   I had bought one for my shop several months ago and love the rustic look against all the barn wood I have in there.   This time I wanted one in soft green.   As you can tell by the picture I was able to find one in just the right color!   I can hardly wait until the cabin is done so I can find a place to hang it!
Speaking of the cabin...Between showers yesterday Keith was able to work on it.   He's hoping to have it completely under roof by the end of next week.   Being under roof is a long ways from being complete but at least it will give us some idea how much space we will actually have inside.~~~ I'm the worlds worst when it comes to trying to judge how big something will be.   Once I can actually "see" floor space I can start making plans where I want to put everything.
Well, the wind is still blowing, it's dark and dreary so time for that nap I was talking about earlier.   I hope those of you in the Midwest have made it through this storm track we've had and that everyone will have a great, productive week.   Blessings, Sher
