Auction Treasures!

The weather in Kansas has suddenly taken a turn for the better.   Gone are those cold mornings and in their place are soft warm winds.   It's the perfect time to start hitting the auctions!   Now I sure didn't want to go Monday.   My house is always a mess after the weekends but Keith talked me into it.   I'm glad he did because I came home with several little treasures.
One of the things I bought I was sold as a "horse trough".   While I know it's not (It's to small to be one) it's something I just love!   Made of old weathered wood, it's lined with a galvanize tin.   It's long and narrow and as I found out when I went to move it, heavy as sin!!   While not super big, I think it's just the right size to fill with flowers.   A real primitive flower pot!
Another buy was a cut glass dish.   Last month we had lunch at my Aunts and she used a bowl like this with candied pears in in.   She remarked that she had bought it at antique shop for $45.   This one looks just like it and didn't cost near as much!
While we have officially been calling our new building a 'cabin', the truth is, we haven't decided it it's going to be that or cottage.  (You can read more about that dilemma on my other Blog: http://oldcrowfarmks.blogspot..com/)   I honestly love both primitives and Shabby Chic.   Keith is needing to know which way I'm going to go so yesterday he took me shopping.  The idea was to tempt me with some antique piece of furniture that would decide whether we have a cabin or a cottage.   After reading my other Blog, you'll see it didn't work.   Once again, I'm asking everyone to please help me decide this.   I love the idea of a rustic place to sneak off to and yet I also love the idea of a soft romantic get-away.   Hey, maybe I could talk him into building TWO buildings! HA
With all this gorgeous weather we are having, we're also starting to see all the little things that need to be done around here to get us ready for Spring.   Yesterday we bought five gallons of white paint and now I can start working on the arbor and picket fence.   Of course after that the greenhouse needs touching up and then there's the trim on my Shop.   Ok, you get the picture...EVERYTHING is needing painted!!!!
So, on that note I'm off to hang out the last load of laundry for the day and then it's time to get to work around here.   I hope everyone is having this same wonderful weather we are and that your all getting things done around your homes!   Hugs, Sher

My family used to go to auctions all the time when I was little. I can't think of anyplace around here that has them. Thinking about it...that seems odd for such a rural county as this. I'll have to do some checking.

I love this sort of thing. I have a set of washtubs on a stand I plant herbs in, an enamel chamber pot I plant flowers in and lots of other such quaint goodies in my yard.
