Rain!!!
For weeks we complained because we had nothing but cold weather and rain.    Suddenly that changed and we went from being cold to being HOT and dry!   At last that spell has been broken!   Yesterday evening we got some much needed rain.  Unfortunately it wasn't the slow gentle rain we needed.   Instead it was a hard driving rain with lots of wind.   But, water is water and we'll take it however we can get it.
Looking out the window this morning everything looks so green.   My poor ole flowers have really started to look bad in just these last few days.   After a quick drink yesterday even they seem to be standing taller.   Of course the grass is standing taller too so that means the lawn mower will be coming back out.
Before the rains hit yesterday, Keith and I got a few new plants set out in The Rose Garden.  (It will always be called "The Rose Garden" although at this time there are more perennials out there than there are roses!!)   I noticed in our Secret Garden that our Hollyhocks are blooming.  This really came as a surprise because I don't remember them blooming last year until the end of June, first of July.   Last year they reached half way to heaven (Or so they seemed!) and this year they seem so short.   I can't help but wonder if it's not because our weather hasn't been so cool it's stunted their growth.   They are still pretty and one of my favorite flowers.
Several of you have expressed an interest in seeing pictures of our cabin.   So, over the next couple of days I hope to go out and snap a few of the inside.   Now I want you to all remember.  Not only is NOT done but it's been done on a shoe-string budget.   While it's tiny I really do love it and we find that it's the one place we can go and spend quiet time with our family...Wonder if that has something to do with it not having in toys out there and always being clean? HA   So, if keep checking back if you want a peek inside.
Well, my crew is finally all up so it's time for this ole Mom to start breakfast.   Enjoy your day and do something fun!   Blessings, Sher

2006-May-31 - rain

Posted by j706nancyr

I know what ya mean about the rain. We haven't had rain in 17 days now and the daytime temps are in the 90's. My garden is struggling. But like you said, after the rain everything sure greens up.
I just found your blog and am so interested in the cabin you talk about. It sounds soooo cool. Can't wait for the pics.
Will be checking back often!
Thanks,
Nancy
