Our First Night in the Cabin!!!!

Yesterday was our little ones last day of school and normally we would have taken them somewhere today to celebrate.    Since we have to go to Lawrence tomorrow for Drew's dentist appointment, we didn't want to take two long drives two days in a row.    Keith came up with this bright idea we would spend the night in our cabin. ~~~Our cabin that doesn't have a bathroom that is finished!!!!   I have to admit I've been anxious to stay out there too so it didn't take a whole lot of coaxing.
We went out earlier in the day and stocked the refrig. with plenty of pop and made sure there were all kinds of snacking treats at hand.   About an hour before we decided we all would go out, we went out and made up the bedroom bed and pulled the hide-a-bed out and got it ready to go.   We got the little ones settled down with a Hallmark movie (We have Sky Angel in the cabin so all programs are ones for the whole family!) and then Keith and I went in the bedroom to watch a DVD.   Suddenly the television has quit working!  No problem, we have a million and one other TV's but neither one felt like tromping out in the dark to bring one in!   So, I settled down and looked at some great Shabby Chic magazines I have out there and Keith dozed off!
I had no idea how wonderful it would be out there.   As you looked out the window all you could see was the grass waving in the moonlight.   The stars honestly looked like diamonds they were so bright.   Since the cabin sets back in a pasture there was no highway noise either.     There was a wonderful breeze coming through the windows and by morning it was darn right COLD!!!
Of course not having the bathroom hooked up was a minor draw back!!!!  By morning it was either make a trip to the house or disgrace myself and at my age I didn't think I wanted my little ones seeing that!   So, I grabbed my flashlight and made the walk back to by what by this time I was thinking of being our wonderful, modern bathroom! HA
All in all it was a wonderful experience and one we are going to do it again this weekend!  Hugs, Sher

Early in our marriage, Dick and I spent a couple of summers at a forest service lookout in central Oregon. Not even an outhouse as such - but, we did have a "throne" - a pit, with a seat on top of a 3 ft by 3 ft platform. So when I had to go, I would just go to my "throne room" in the great outdoors, surrounded by beautiful green trees.
No worry - we were over 3 miles from the gravel road - so only had visitors once in the 2 summers we were there - and we did receive a phone call letting us know they were coming (they called to see if we wanted them to bring up anything).

Am glad you had such a good evening.
