The End of 2008

Tonight people will be celebrating the birth of a New Year.   Some people will be  going out for a night on the town, some will be spending the evening with friends, others will be spending a quiet night at home with their loved ones.   I will fall in the last group...No doubt I will sleep the New Year in but I'll be surrounded by those that love me.
However, it's the way I spent the last day of 2008 that will always be special in my mind.   Today I spent the whole day with my Daddy.   We watched old Red Skeleton shows, "The Price is Right", "Judge Joe",  a show on antique tractors and a football game.   All of this with my Dad!    In between shows we talked about "the good old days".   He shared stories of his youth and this evening when things quiet down I'll write those stories down for my children.   When I left him, my sister Sindy took my place.   He's going to teach her to play cards and she'll make her own special memories with him.    Now I ask you Girls, does it get any better than this?  I think not!
In my heart I know that 2009 is going to be a year of tears and losses for our family.   But just for tonight, I want to hold this last day of the year close to my heart.   Blessings, Sher

What A Wonderful Day!

Hi Sher, So glad you had this very special day with your Dad and I'm sure he enjoyed it just as much as you did! Days like today are memory keepers for sure!
Reminds me of the afternoon I spent with my Dad when he was so very sick. Together we enjoyed a John Wayne movie and after Dad passed on I went out and bought the movie just to add to my memory of that very special afternoon we had shared together.
Time is so precious with our loved ones, when it's over it's the memories we have made with them that continue to live on in our hearts.

May God Bless you and yours, dear friend.

Hugs, Sher (NY)

Sher, I am so glad you were able to spend some special time with your Dad. Daddy's are so special to their little girls! My Dad passed away 7 years ago, hard to believe. Enjoy the time you have with yours.

Sher, Happy New Year wishes to you also. I hope you've wrong about what might await you in 2009. But I'm glad you got to spend this kind of a day with your Daddy. No matter what the next year brings, this is something that you'll always be able to hold close to your heart.
