Tired!!!!
I will start this entry off with an apology....To those of you who have been writing and not receiving an answer from me, please accept my apology....  I was under the impression when Keith got home everything would be wonderful and I would find myself with tons of free time.   This has certainly proved NOT to be the case!   Poor Keith is working from sun up to sun down and at this point I'm sure he's wishing he had stayed in Wisconsin!!!!   Honestly, we've been having a string of bad luck this whole summer and I'm ready for some happier days!   I promise I'll be answering all your e-mails shortly.   Now to explain what things have been like around here...........
I think I told you in my last entry that a big tree out front had been hit by lightening and our main phone line had suddenly quit working.    Well, the phone repair man was here this morning and it's on our side of the line (Naturally!) and in order for him to fix it they would charge $100 an hour!   I don't want a phone that bad!!!!    So, once again Keith is looking things over and if he can't find the problem I'm just going to drop that line (And possibly the second line and go to High Speed Internet) and do without a land line.   Personally, I love the idea....No more Tel-Marketers calling at all hours and it would also mean no other calls but those we really want to hear from since only our close friends and relatives have our cell phone numbers!!!!   Sounds good to me!!!!
In keeping with our bad luck, one night last week we had four inches of rain and at the same time lost power!   Yep, our basement filled up with water!   By the time the power was restored  (Five hours later) I had one royal mess on my hands.   It was honestly so bad I don't even want to talk about it!!!!   AND, to make matters worse, when the power came on, we had lost our 220!!!!    We finally got it resorted and discovered every outlet in the kitchen had quit working!   Out came the extension cords and we had to live that way for two days until we could get an electrician out here.
We had just gotten it fixed when it was time for people to start arriving for the Fourth.   Poor Keith was going crazy trying to get the tent up and the grass all mowed before everyone got here.   I wasn't much help as I was trying to get food cooked for the big day.
According to the weathermen, there was a chance of rain for the morning of the Fourth and we all breathed a sigh of relief when we got up to the sun shining.    Of all the years we've had the Fourth on Old Crow Farm, this one turned out to be the best yet weather wise...We had a light breeze and it never got out of the low 80's the whole day!!!!  Normally we have people crowding into the house as soon as they finish eating but this year everyone was able to sit around outside and visit in comfort!
What a day our Fourth was!   We had twenty-five people here and I swear everyone was doing their own thing!   We had four people over 80 years of age so they sat around eating and talking the whole day.   The young people were ridding the Three-Wheeler, swimming, playing basketball, playing football, jumping on the trampoline, lighting fireworks, ect...   It was truly a day for family and friends to come together and have fun.
This year we decided to break away from the way we usually do things.   Instead of Keith doing all the grilling, we turned it over to married son Sam!   He really is the best griller around and he turned out the most wonderful shrimp, hot dogs, chicken and pork tenderloin you've ever eaten!   It was wonderful for Keith not to have to be away from everyone and it's something Sam enjoys.
Two of my sisters were here this year for the Fourth and we had so much fun together.    My little sister is getting into antiques so a trip through my shop was in order.   Of course her daughter (My niece) fell in love with one piece so Aunt Sherry helped her load it into her car and it now has a new home in K.C..   Shelia called early this morning and she plans to bring a friend back in August to go through my shop for more treasures.   That means Keith and I have to get it cleaned out so they can see everything! HA
Because of the weather was so nice we had a lot of guest stay late into the night.   By this time I was tired so I told the DIL's and sons to take over the kitchen.   They fixed the evening meal and then entertained everyone with fire-works.   Am I lazy or what?????
So, at long last the house is "ours" again.   I love my family but I love being alone too.   It's time for Keith and I to enjoy what's left of our summer and I'm hoping the weather will cooperate (Had two inches of rain yesterday) and we'll do just that.   On that note I'm going to grab a towel and head to the pool with my little ones.   I pray your all enjoying your day and that your enjoying nice weather too.   Until later...Blessings From the Farm, Sher
