Homesteading: A Woman's Journey

We are So Blessed

Joe and I have been so blessed.  Finding each other and having Abigail, we felt as though the Lord has blessed us greatly.  Then, last night, we found out that the blessings are being added to.

I have been feeling sick for several days, unable to eat much.  No matter how much sleep I get, it never seems like enough.  Joe and I were talking on the phone and he asked me to go get a test.  I went to the store, got the test and did it when I got home.  Turns out that all the sickness and the "nesting" have been for a good reason.  We are expecting another baby!

I am so amazed by the tests.  In figuring the dates on a medical website, I am barely 2 weeks into the pregnancy, yet the test was able to show the positive results!  The baby will be due in late March.

It is abit over-whelming.  I am having a baby at 44yrs of age.  We are thrilled though.  We have placed the baby in the Lord's Hands.  We know that He is in full control.

Congrats! With my first pregnancy it showed up on a test when I was about 2.5-3 weeks.

Paula, I am so pleased for you and Joe and Abby too.
I have told you before that David was 42 and I was 41 when Jonathan was born. (Had he been full-term I would have been 42.)
I went to a dear Christian physician, a father of 6, who knew I didn't want any of the diagnostic tests that are offered to mothers over 35. When Jonathan insisted on making an early arrival, my perinatologist was a very pro-life Catholic man.
Being an older mother can be a physical challenge, but there are benefits as well.
Older moms are much more self-assured and confident. We know what we want for our children and will not settle for less, trying to please others or due to intimidation.
We have lots of fun. Older parents are more settled and can relax and enjoy their children, while maintaining proper discipline.
We have wisdom. We have come to the point in life where the Lord is our number one concern and disciplining our children is truly a joy.
It is interesting that I and another mother in town usually take our children everywhere we can by bicycle. We are both approaching 50. Having children when you're older keeps your focus on fitness!
I hope these tidbits are encouraging for you. Even though we don't have the stamina that younger mothers have, we have a Lord who will sustain us. Praise God!
Blessings from .............Denise (prairiemom)
