Homesteading: A Woman's Journey | |
Cool mornings bring cozy timesThis morning, Abigail is visiting her Grandparents. They watch her about once a week so that I can get some sewing or other tasks done without interruption. It also gives them some time together. Since she is with me so much, we feel that it is good for her to have time with her Grandparents. While she is visiting, I decided to fire up the kitchen cookstove. We haven't burned any wood in it since early spring. With the cool nights & mornings we have been having I wanted to test fire the stove while Abbie was out of the house. It feels so nice to have the gentle warmth of the stove. The crackling sound of the wood burning is also very comforting. I really miss having the stove going. I look forward to the cool days to arrive so that I can use the stove again. Today, I have the tea kettle of water on the stove and on the counter in my slow cooker is some beef stroganoff simmering for tonight's dinner. Yep, nice and cozy! I got all of my housework done yesterday, so now I have the rest of the week to sew Abbie's new cloth diapers and her winter clothing. I also have 3 quilts to make. It feels so good to be able to do the sewing for my family. I thank the Lord for the blessing of allowing me the ability to do this. Soon, I will start on Christmas preparations. We have no ornaments or anything to decorate, so I am not only making the gifts this year, but also as many of the decorations as I can manage. I love it! I am trying to design a special ornament for Abbie's 1st Christmas. I want to start a tradition of having a special ornament for her each year. Then, when she is grown, she will have ornaments to start her own celebrations with. I am so excited. I finally have the start of a supply of sewn items to begin selling. I am still trying to figure out how PayPal works, but am excited to start offering my home-sewns. Leave a Comment { Last Page } { Page 143 of 179 } { Next Page } |
