Homesteading: A Woman's Journey | |
Naming a new Family Addition.......We have a new addition. Today, while visiting with a neighboring family, they gave me one of their 6 month old female kittens. They had been wanting to find a good home for her, but hadn't found anyone to give her to. She is such a sweet cat. Loves attention and being held. Yet, she is just "barn cat" enough to be independent and likes to hunt. Our other cats (3 males) are not sure what to think of her. When I introduced her to Chantico (my yr old male dachshund) and Cecil, the only male cat we have that is not neutered, she hissed at them and smacked both with her claws extended. They are now leaving her alone. Henry and Red, 2 brothers who were neutered before we received them, are both not sure they approve of her being around. Red ignores her, but Henry is making growling type sounds at her alot. More of an intimidation thing at this point. To her credit though, she is standing her ground or ignoring them all. I haven't named her yet. The neighbors were calling her "Cry Baby" because of her markings when she was born that looked like she had white "tears" on her face. Except for the "tears" and a small white patch on her neck, she is a black color. At 6 months old, she is abit small still. I am trying to come up with a name for her. She is a gentle cat and very loving. She would stay on your lap if you sat down outside. She has always been an outdoor cat though. With my in-laws having cat allergies, I won't have her in the house. Would welcome any ideas for a name for her. Today, Abigail spent a few hours with her Grandparents. When she got back, she was all smiles and giggly. It was so good having some uninterrupted time to work on the tasks here at home. I know that her Grandparents enjoyed having her also. Abbie then slept really well when she took her nap. I was thrilled! You can tell she is feeling so much better than she did last week. She is actually sleeping longer now also. Not waking up as often as she did when she wasn't feeling well. I was able to get all of Abbie's clothes laundered and sorted. A friend had given us 4 large bags of clothing that her daughter had outgrown. This is in addition to the clothing we had previously received from ladies with daughters who outgrew their clothing. All the clothes covered my bed when I had them sorted. I am bagging up the items that are too small. These I can donate to charity or give to another family. All of hte larger sized clothes are sorted and bagged with the sizes marked on the bags. These will eventually be placed into bins to prevent mice or moths from getting to them while being stored. I spent time this evening writing letters to mail out tomorrow. I love hand writing letters. I wrote to a couple of pen pals and also a letter round robin that I am taking part in. I love how relaxed it makes me to write. It is so much more personal than emails and even this blog. Well, until next time..... Leave a Comment { Last Page } { Page 148 of 179 } { Next Page } |
